NSS conducts VAST Blood Donation Camp 2026: A gift of life

The NSS Units of Vidya  encourage voluntary blood donation among the VAST community and create awareness about the importance of blood donation as a vital contribution to community health and humanitarian service.

The National Service Scheme (NSS) Units organised a Blood Donation Camp on 16 July 2026 in collaboration with Government Medical College, Thrissur, as part of the NSS Rudhirasena initiative. The programme aimed to promote voluntary blood donation and create awareness about its importance in serving the community.

The camp was conducted on the college premises in a safe, hygienic, and well-equipped environment. A medical team from Government Medical College, Thrissur, provided professional assistance throughout the programme, including donor registration and screening, blood collection, and post-donation care. Their support ensured that the entire donation process was carried out safely and efficiently.

The programme received an overwhelming response from the college community. Students, faculty members, non-teaching staff, and other members of the institution participated enthusiastically in the camp. A total of 117 units of blood were collected, making the programme a significant contribution towards meeting the demand for blood in hospitals and healthcare facilities.

The programme was effectively coordinated by the NSS Rudhirasena Coordinators—Saranya K (S5,  CSE Dept), Shaheen (S5, CE Dept), Bhoomika (S5, CSE Dept), Ashil P Shine (S5, CSE Dept), Elana Maria (S5, CSE Dept), and Om DD (S5, CSE Dept). Their systematic planning and efficient coordination played a vital role in the successful conduct of the programme.

The Rudhirasena Coordinators were supported by the NSS Volunteer Secretaries and NSS volunteers, who actively assisted in donor registration, guidance, crowd management, and post-donation care. Their dedication and teamwork ensured the smooth functioning of the camp and provided a comfortable environment for the donors.

The event was conducted under the guidance of the NSS Programme Officers—Mr. Rajesh S K NSS (NSS Programme Officer, Asso Prof,EEE Dept) Mr. Ranjith E R (Programme Officer, Asst Prof,ME Dept) and Ms. Delmy David V (NSS Programme Officer, Asst Prof,CSE Dept) . Their continuous supervision, encouragement, and coordination with the medical team contributed significantly to the successful execution of the programme.

The Blood Donation Camp was a commendable initiative that reflected the institution’s commitment to social responsibility, humanitarian service, and community engagement. The collection of 117 units of blood demonstrated the generosity and social commitment of the VAST community. The programme also encouraged students to develop a spirit of voluntary service and motivated them to participate actively in socially relevant initiatives in the future.
