NSS volunteers participate in Yuvajagaran 2026 “Red Run” Marathon

As part of the Yuvajagaran 2026 initiative, a 5 KM “Red Run” Marathon was organized on 01 August 2026 at Thoppu Stadium, Thrissur, to create awareness about HIV/AIDS among college students. The programme was organized under the leadership of the District Medical Office (Health), District AIDS Control Office, National Health Mission, and National Service Scheme (NSS).

The marathon witnessed the participation of 57 college students and was flagged off by Dr. Jilsho George (District Programme Manager, Arogyakeralam). The programme was attended by Dr. Ratil (District AIDS Control Officer), Ms C. M. Sreeja (District Education Media Officer),Ms P. Sonia Johny (Deputy District Education Media Officer), Mr Aljo C. Cheriyan (Deputy District Education Media Officer) and Mr Sunilkumar (Cluster Programme Manager) along with other officials and representatives.

Eleven students from Vidya actively participated in the marathon. S. Aswin (S5, CE), Adhil P G (S3, EEE Dept), Stefin Saji Kattukaran (S3, EEE Dept) and Joel Lawrence (S3, EEE Dept).Mr. Ranjith E. R (NSS Program Officer, Asst Prof, ME Dept) –one of the Nodal Officers of Yuvajagaran 2026, also attended the programme and coordinated the participation of the VAST students.

The event served as an important platform for promoting HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention among youth and encouraged college students to actively engage in health promotion, social responsibility, and community awareness initiatives.
