NSS conducts door-to-door Anti-Drug & HIV Awareness Campaign under “Nasha Mukt Yuva”

cAs part of the Yuvajagaran Programme, the NSS Units of Vidya  organized an impactful Anti-Drug and HIV Awareness Door-to-Door Campaign across Velur Panchayath on 08 August 2026.

Under the guidance of Mr. Ranjith E. R (NSS Program Officer, Asst Prof, ME Dept), 30 dedicated NSS volunteers deployed in small teams throughout the panchayath to engage residents directly in health education and social advocacy.

Objectives of the Programme

  • Drug Abuse Awareness: To create awareness about the harmful effects of drug and substance abuse.

  • Healthy Lifestyle Promotion: To promote a healthy and drug-free lifestyle among the public, especially the youth.

  • HIV/AIDS Education: To provide accurate awareness about HIV/AIDS, including its transmission, prevention, and treatment options.

  • Stigma Reduction: To dispel common myths and reduce the stigma and discrimination associated with HIV/AIDS.

  • Community Engagement: To encourage active community participation in building a healthy, informed, and responsible society…..

NSS volunteers conducted interactive sessions with residents across 150 households, emphasizing the severe hazards of substance abuse and advocating for healthy, drug-free living among local youth.Teams distributed accurate information regarding HIV/AIDS transmission, prevention, and treatment options while actively dispelling common myths to eliminate discrimination against individuals living with HIV.

Outcome of the Programme

  • Community Impact: Reached 150 households in Velur Panchayath, significantly improving local understanding of drug abuse hazards, HIV/AIDS prevention, and stigma reduction.

  • Health Promotion: Successfully encouraged healthy, substance-free living while dispelling common myths surrounding HIV/AIDS.

  • Volunteer Development: Provided 30 NSS volunteers with hands-on experience in community engagement, communication, teamwork and social responsibility.
