Federal Bank was incorporated on April 23, 1931, as the Travancore Federal Bank Limited, Nedumpuram, under the Travancore Companies Regulation,1916.It was renamed as The Federal Bank Limited in December 1949, under the stewardship of Late Sri. K P Hormis. He took over the reigns of the bank in 1945. Licensed under the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, on 11 Jul 1959, the Bank went on to become a scheduled commercial bank on 20 Jul 1970.The bank has 1,336 branches spread across different states in India and has representative offices abroad in Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and Dubai.
