ME Dept hosts insightful session on Scan-to-Product Technologies

The Dept of Mechanical Engineering (ME) conducts various programs to familiarize faculty members with modern product development methodologies—particularly 3D scanning, reverse engineering, digital modeling, and other Scan-to-Product technologies.

a technical talk on “Scan-to-Product: Product Development” was  organized by ME Dept on 18 November 2025.The session was delivered by Mr. Jinto A J (CEO and Director of Projects at Hawking Technologies),a reputed firm in advanced engineering and product development.

The event began with a welcome address by Dr. Rakesh Hari (HoD, ME Dept). In his speech, he emphasized the importance of integrating emerging technologies like 3D scanning and digital product development into engineering education and research.

Mr. Jinto then engaged the faculty with insights into modern product development workflows, including reverse engineering, digital modeling, and rapid manufacturing. The session highlighted how Scan-to-Product technologies are reshaping the industry and creating new avenues for innovation.

The talk also reflected the growing relationship between the department and Hawking Technologies. The Mechanical Engineering Department has a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the company, aimed at collaborative projects, knowledge sharing, and strengthening industry–academia partnerships.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Biju P. V (Asso Prof, ME Dept) who acknowledged the resource person and appreciated the faculty members for their active participation.
