CE Dept hosts workshop on Artificial Intelligence in Civil Engineering for Final-Year Students
The Department of Civil Engineering conducts several activities and programs to familiarize students with the fundamentals and applications of Artificial Intelligence in civil engineering.
A hands-on training session on “Artificial Intelligence in Civil Engineering” was conducted for the final-year B.Tech Civil Engineering students on 19 December 2025 at CADD Lab. The program was organized in association with CISAT (Tangent) with the objective of introducing students to AI-enabled tools and emerging technologies relevant to the civil engineering industry.
The session was led by Mr. Vinod K. C (Director, Tangent) and Mr. Arundas V. M. (Director, Tangent) who shared valuable industry insights and guided the students through practical, hands-on activities. During the training, students were taught to prepare a live project drawing using AutoCAD, followed by the creation of a 3D model using Coohom software.
Coohom is an AI-powered, cloud-based 3D design and visualization platform that enables the rapid conversion of 2D drawings into detailed 3D models and realistic renderings. The software supports efficient design visualization and informed decision-making, making it highly relevant for modern civil engineering practices.
In addition to the practical exercises, the resource persons highlighted various applications and future possibilities of Artificial Intelligence in Civil Engineering, including intelligent modeling, design automation, advanced visualization techniques, and smart construction practices. The interactive nature of the session significantly enhanced students’ exposure to industry-relevant digital tools and workflows.
The event was co-ordinated by Ms. Chithira Ajeeth (Asst Prof, CE Dept). The workshop was well received by the students and served as an effective platform to bridge the gap between academic learning and current industry practices.
| The Editorial Team of News & Events joins the entire Vidya fraternity in extending heartiest appreciation to Ms.Chithira and the entire CE Dept on the successful conduct of the session that provides hands-on training in AI-enabled design, visualization tools and current industry practices !!! |
