ME faculty member serve as resource person

Serving as resource persons, faculty of Vidya Academy of Science and Technology promoted awareness on carbon neutrality among engineers, faculty members, and students.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering  successfully conducted an expert session titled “Achieving Carbon Neutrality: Strategies for Institutions” on 26 February 2026 as part of the six-day Faculty Development Programme on Sustainable Engineering and Decarbonization Strategies for Net Zero. The session was delivered by Dr. Sooraj K Prabha (Prof, ME Dept). The talk presented a structured roadmap for institutions aspiring to achieve carbon neutrality through effective energy management, carbon accounting, policy alignment, and campus-level sustainability initiatives.

Dr. Sooraj emphasised practical measures to reduce institutional carbon footprints, including energy auditing, renewable energy integration, demand-side management, and stakeholder engagement. The session also addressed implementation challenges and best practices for educational institutions progressing toward net-zero targets.

The programme was convened by Dr Rakesh Hari (HoD, ME Dept) and coordinated by Dr Sooraj K Prabha (Prof, ME Dept) and Dr Renjish Vijay (Asso Prof, ME Dept).The session witnessed active participation from faculty members, research scholars and students, followed by an engaging interaction that clarified key aspects of institutional decarbonization.

The programme further strengthened Vidya’s commitment to advancing sustainable engineering practices and climate-responsible campus development.
