EEE Department conducts online workshop on LaTeX

The department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering conducts several activities to introduce students to the fundamentals of LaTeX and highlight its importance in preparing professional technical documents, research papers, and project reports

The department organized an online workshop on LaTeX for final year diploma students on 06 March 2026 .

The programme began with a welcome address by Dr. Mary P. Varghese (HoD, EEE Dept) who welcomed the resource person, faculty members, and participants.

The resource person for the session was Mr. Arun Xavier (Asst. Prof. – Sr. Grade, EEE Dept). During the workshop, he explained the basic concepts of LaTeX, including document structure, text formatting, insertion of equations, tables, and figures, and the preparation of professional technical documents. The session also included demonstrations on LaTeX editors and practical guidance on how students can efficiently prepare project reports and academic papers using the LaTeX typesetting system.

Around 135 students registered for the programme, and most of them actively participated in the session. The participants gained practical knowledge on creating well-structured and professionally formatted documents using LaTeX. The programme received very positive feedback from the participants.

The workshop was especially beneficial for final year students preparing their academic project reports from institutions including Thiagarajar Polytechnic College, Alagappanagar (Thrissur), Sree Rama Government Polytechnic College (Valappadu), St. Mary’s Polytechnic College (Palakkad), Maharajas Technological Institute (Thrissur), and MET’s School of Engineering (Thrissur).

The programme concluded successfully with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Krishnakumar M. (Asst. Prof. – Sr. Grade, EEE Dept), who also served as the co-ordinator of the programme.
