Echoes of Excellence: Prize distribution ceremony for “Manatharil Malayalam” – International Mother Language Day

Vidya marked International Mother Language Day with “Manatharil Malayalam” (Malayalam in our hearts) . a vibrant celebration that showcased the beauty of linguistic diversity and reflected the deep-rooted essence of our cultural heritage under the aegis of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), and National Digital Library of India (NDLI) on 21 February 2026
The celebration Manatharil Malayalam” focused on promoting linguistic diversity and preserving the cultural richness of the Malayalam language. A series of thoughtfully curated competitions and cultural activities provided a platform for students to demonstrate their creativity and linguistic pride. The enthusiastic involvement of students from various departments underscored a shared commitment to celebrating their mother tongue.
As part of the programme, two insightful keynote presentations were delivered. Aavani K Shine (S6, CSE Dept) spoke on “The Role of Languages in Sustainable Development”, highlighting how language acts as a carrier of tradition and community memory, with references to Malayalam folk literature.Ann Rose Rajan (S8, AIML Dept) presented on “Artificial Intelligence and Language Preservation”, focusing on how AI tools can help document, translate, and revive endangered languages. 
A major highlight of the event was a lively and thought-provoking debate on the topic Language and Human Relations” (Malayalam: “Bhashayum Manushya Bandhangalum”).The debate witnessed enthusiastic participation from student teams, who explored how language influences interpersonal relationships, empathy, and social structures. The discussions reflected on the dual role of language—its ability to unite people by fostering cross-cultural understanding, as well as its potential to divide through linguistic prejudices.
A prize distribution ceremony was arranged on 18 April 2026 to honour the winners and resource persons. The programme began with an appreciation address by Ms Surabhi M S (Coordinator – Manatharil Malayalam, Asst Librarian), who commended the students for their sincere efforts in promoting the significance of Malayalam and contributing to the larger cause of language preservation. Dr. Sunitha C (Principal) presented certificates and gifts, appreciating the students for their sincere efforts in preserving the cultural essence of their mother tongue. She also felicitated the resource persons, Aavani K Shine and Ann Rose Rajan in recognition of their valuable contributions. In addition, all debate competition participants were awarded certificates and gifts as a gesture of appreciation for their enthusiastic participation.In recognition of their enthusiastic participation, Dr. Sunitha  presented certificates and gifts to all debate competition participants as a token of appreciation.
Certificates were awarded to them in appreciation of their dedicated contributions, as the event was seamlessly coordinated by Neha K. (S6,CSE Dept), while Dibin (S6, CSE Dept) skillfully captured the highlights through photography, Aadinath (S8, ME Dept) documented the proceedings through videography, and Dhrisya Anil (S8, CSE Dept) contributed through creative designing.
