AIML Dept organizes Smart Spark Workshop – Smart Electronics and IoT
With the objective of providing high school students with practical exposure to basic electronics and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies through hands-on learning, the Department of Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, in association with the Skill Center, Vidya Academy of Science & Technology, successfully organized “Smart Spark Workshop – Smart Electronics and IoT” for the students of Christ King Convent School, Pavaratty, on 25 July 2026.
A total of 45 high school students and two faculty members from Christ King Convent School actively participated in the workshop. The event provided an excellent platform for the students to explore the fundamentals of electronics and gain an understanding of emerging IoT technologies.
The forenoon session focused on basic electronics through hands-on activities. Students actively participated in LED Star Making and LED Bulb Assembling, where they learned about electronic components, circuit connections, soldering techniques, polarity, and the working principles of LED-based lighting systems. These activities enhanced their practical skills while encouraging creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving.
The afternoon session introduced students to the Internet of Things (IoT) and its real-world applications. The participants were familiarized with IoT concepts, sensors, embedded systems, and smart devices through interactive demonstrations. They also learned how IoT is transforming various sectors such as smart homes, healthcare, agriculture, transportation and industrial automation.
The technical sessions were handled by Ms. Aswathy E R (Asst Prof, AIML Dept), Ms. Shegi Indulal (Trade Instructor, ECE Dept),Ms. Nimya M G (Trade Instructor, AS Dept) and Ms. Viji Vinodan (Lab Instructor, ECE Dept). The workshop was co-ordinated by Ms. Sinda P Xavier (Asst Prof, AIML Dept) and Ms. Riya Roy (Asst Prof, AIML Dept)
