NSS units of VAST reach out to the community through “Sasneham Oru Oonu”

As part of the programme, 288 Pothichooru (wrapped meals) were prepared and distributed. The meals were contributed by NSS volunteers, students and staff members of the institution. Volunteers actively took part in collecting, packing, transporting and distributing the meals, ensuring that they were prepared hygienically and reached the beneficiaries safely and on time.

The meals were distributed at two locations during the noon hours. 188 Pothichooru were distributed to needy people in the Thrissur Round area, while 100 Pothichooru were handed over to Friends of Jesus Bhavanam, Gagultha. The initiative not only provided immediate food support but also offered students an opportunity to connect with the community and experience the value of compassionate service.

The programme was carried out under the enthusiastic leadership of the NSS KTU Care Coordinators—Gouri Badhra (S5, CSE Dept), Ajel (S5, ME Dept), Riya (S5, CSE Dept), Sreejith (S5, ECE Dept), Parvathy (S5, CE Dept) and Gogul (S5, EEE Dept). They were supported by the Volunteer Secretaries—Pavithra M G (S5, CSE Dept), Sachin Mathew (S5, CSE Dept), Prakeerthana Baiju (S5, AIML Dept), Midhun Das K (S5, CE Dept), Sona P S (S5, EC E Dept) and Mohammed Bilal A A (S5, EEE Dept).

The initiative was coordinated under the guidance of Mr. Ranjith E. R (NSS Program Officer, Asst Prof, ME Dept) and Mr. Rajesh S. K. (NSS Program Officer, Asso Prof, EEE Dept).

“Sasneham Oru Oonu” reflected the true spirit of community service by bringing together students, staff and volunteers in an effort to support those in need. The initiative strengthened the NSS units’ commitment to compassion, empathy and responsible citizenship, demonstrating how small acts of kindness can create a meaningful impact in society.
