EEE alumni interaction inspires students with career and higher education insights

The Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE), Vidya Academy of Science and Technology, Thrissur, organised an Alumni Interaction Programme for prefinal-year EEE students on 16 September 2026, focusing on career opportunities in Power Systems and higher education abroad.

The session was coordinated by Ms. Sheeja G. (Alumni Coordinator & Asst Prof, EEE Dept) who formally introduced the resource person to the students.

The resource person, Mr. T. Visakh, (Graduate Engineer, Macawber Beekay Pvt. Ltd., Delhi,2021–25 batch EEE Dept) shared his academic and professional journey, highlighting the milestones and experiences that shaped his career. He spoke about his internship at Engineers India Limited and his subsequent professional experience as a Graduate Engineer at Macawber Beekay Pvt. Ltd., Delhi. He also shared his recent selection for a Master of Science programme at a reputed institution in Germany, giving students valuable insight into opportunities for pursuing higher education overseas.

During the interaction, Mr. Visakh elaborated on the career opportunities available in the Power Systems domain, drawing from his own professional experience. He encouraged students to develop a clear vision for their careers and identify their areas of interest at an early stage. He emphasized that focused preparation and informed career planning can help students make effective use of the opportunities available after graduation.

A significant part of the session focused on GATE preparation. Mr. Visakh highlighted the importance of GATE as a pathway to opportunities in Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) as well as higher education.He encouraged students to begin their preparation early and approach the examination with seriousness and consistency.

The alumnus also offered his continued support to students interested in pursuing higher education abroad, assuring them of his willingness to guide and assist them with future application processes.

Dr. Vinila M.L (Prof & HoD, EEE Dept) and Mr. Arun Xavier (Asst. Prof – Sr Grade, EEE Dept) extended their support to the initiative and encouraged students to actively participate in alumni interactions and benefit from the experiences and guidance of their seniors.

The session provided the prefinal-year students with valuable real-world perspectives on career planning, Power Systems, GATE preparation and higher education opportunities abroad. The interaction served as a motivating platform for students to explore diverse career pathways and prepare themselves strategically for their professional journey.
