ViCA’s special congratulatory programme

Vidya’s Computer Applications Association, fondly called ViCA, organised a special congratulatory programme in the Main Seminar Hall of the College during the afternoon session on 4 October 2019. The programme presided over by Dr V N Krishnachandran (Prof and Head, MCA Dept) and attended by all the students, faculty and staff of the MCA Dept was organised to appreciate and honour certain achievements and talents of the students of the Dept. Though the Principal had agreed to participate in the programme and felicitate the achievers, he could not make it as he was preoccupied other pressing official matters. However, through ViCA representatives he conveyed his best wishes for all the honorees of the occasion.

Winners of slide-show creation contest

Every year since 2008, the MCA Dept has been organising a slide-show creation contest in connection with the World Environment Day celebrations. The contest was open only to first semester MCA students. The contestants were required to create a slide-show using the tool available in LibreOffice. The main purpose of the contest was to make the students reflect for sometime on the threats to environment. It was also intended to  make the students comfortable with the office package available in the Linux platform. All the first semester students admitted this year participated in the contest. ViCA officer bearers evaluated the slide shows and a short list of better shows was prepared. The prize winning entries were finally selected by the faculty members. The creators of the prize winning entries were presented with mementos during the special congratulatory programme held on 4 October 2019.

Aashrith N and Anjali Sethumadhavan, winners of the slide-show creation contests in 2017 and 2018 respectively, jointly presenting the memento to the winner of 2019

Honouring TCS placed students

In the recently concluded TCS recruitment drive, as many as four MCA students have been offered placements in TCS. These students were honoured by giving them an opportunity to talk about their experiences while going through the recruitment process. It was an entertaining and enlightening experience for all to listen to these TCS placed students.
