Vidya’s Vigyan 2020 at Kunnamkulam

As part of its social outreach programs Vidya organized an event christened VIGYAN 2020 at Municipal Town Hall, Kunnamkulam  on 11 January 2020 for students of high school and higher secondary schools and Kudumbasree members in and around Kunnamkulam. A motivational talk,  a project exhibition targeted at students and a hands on training in LED Bulb Assembly targeted at selected members of Kudumbasree Units under Kunnamkulam Municipality were some of the highlights of the event.

Inaugural ceremony

The program started at 9.45AM with a prayer. Dr Mary P Varghese (Asso Prof, EEE Dept) welcomed the gathering. Er G Mohanachandran, Excecutive Director, delivered the presidential address. Ms Seetha Ravindran, Chairperson, Kunnamkulam Municipality, inaugurated the function and delivered the inaugural address. Ms Sumithra O S (Grihalakshmi Mrs Kerala 2019) and Ms Vaishnava K Sunil (Dancer) also addressed the gathering. Ms Mini Moncy (Councillor, Kunnamkulam Municipality), Ms Geetha Sasi (Standing Committee Member, Kunnamkulam Municipality) and Mr Lakshmanan (Health Supervisor, Kunnamkulam Municipality) also attended the function. Ms Seetha Ravindran handed over mementos to the chief guests as a token of gratitude. Ms Remya P C (AP, CSE Dept) proposed the vote of thanks. The inaugural session came to an end by 10.30AM.


The motivational talk Prof Alex Chacko (AP, ME Dept) started at 10.45AM and it extended up to 12.00PM. The speaker was able to generate curiosity among the audience and make them really involve in the talk. Er G Mohanachandran handed over a memento as a token of appreciation to Prof Alex Chacko. This followed by a competition in cultural events (dance, mono act and mimicry) for the participating students. Team D’ Addiction, the dance club of Vidya performed after the cultural competition and it was a wonderful experience for the audience. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the cultural events. A project expo was also arranged as a part of the program lead by students of Vidya which was well appreciated by the attendees. Some students gave their feedback on the session. The morning session concluded at 1.30PM.

Hands on session on LED bulb assembly for members of Kudumbasree units started at 2.30PM. The session was handled by Mr Anil P Sreenivasan and Ms Shegi Prakash. The members were split into groups of two and detailed instructions with demonstration were given which made them easily understand the assembling process. The session came to an end by 3.45PM.

As many as 65 Students and 56 Kudumbasree members attended the program.
