Vidya paying a rapturous standing ovation to EEE alumni on the successful implementation of  ‘ROOTS’ 

Vidya is very much proud that, every Vidyite  believes in inspiring minds, improving their intellectual capacity and building characters which they  treasure for their lifetime. They also endeavor to inculcate social values and care for others.

This week , the Editorial Team of News & Events, would like to share a news with immense pleasure and honor   about much accepted  scholarship scheme, ‘ROOTS’ instituted by the Alumni of the EEE Dept to nurture gifted and  deserving students by assisting them financially, academically and professionally for a great future.

The journey to this virtuous venture was pretty long, with many obstacles and detours but after countless challenges, its finally coming to fruition with earnest and successful efforts of EEE alumni towards bringing this to reality with the wholehearted support of  members of staff in EEE Dept under the earnest  leadership  of Dr Sudha Balagopalan (Dean Academics & Professor in EEE Dept ).

Our proud alumni donated  countless  hours of their time and skills to support this venture which  was propelled by the first four batches of EEE Alumni from 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006 batches. Er. Ajin Aravind (2003-2007 Batch) and Er. Aravind T (2004-2008 Batch) served as the President and  Secretary of the team taken from the first four batches of alumni.

The first and second  phase interview for ROOTS scholarship was conducted on 10 and 31 August 2022 . The winners were announced in an online meeting conducted on 05 September 2022.

In all the interactive sessions, the Alumni gave assurance of complete mentoring support to all the ‘ROOTS’ applicants.

Dr Sudha Balagopalan (Dean –  Academics) served as a pillar to encourage all  the activities leading to brilliance in academics . The improvement classes along with fun-filled projects and activities on Mathematics, Programming and English etc which were started from  26 September 2022. Ms Akhlia R (Asst Prof, EEE Dept) co-ordinated the sessions . Our dedicated alumni have contributed  exemplary well towards this mission in their numerous hours and handled the sessions amidst their hectic professional and personal assignments.

A valedictory function was also arranged on 19 October 2022. The participants , who spoke on the occasion, shared that the improvement classes provided  a safe and impartial space for them  to acquire confidence in managing life stressors outside of academic life, and life setbacks.
