MCA Dept organizes two-day workshop Chip-to-Net 8.1

Conducting a workshop with a systematic framework itself is a big task . But the honest effort in organizing two-day workshop Chip-to-Net 8.1 that consecutively   8th  year  has brought  an important milestone to MCA Dept.

Chip-to-Net 8.1

MCA Department organised Chip-to-Net 8.1, a two-day fully hands-on workshop for the students of neighboring arts and science colleges during 31 January and 01 February, 2023. This is the eighth year in which the Department has been organizing such workshops.

50 students from 11 different arts and science colleges, all studying in the BCA/BSc (CS) programme, attended the workshop.The workshop was a huge success as evidenced by the feedback collected from the participants after the conclusion of the workshop.

Inaugural Ceremony

The inaugural ceremony of the workshop was held in the Computer Lab of the MCA Department at 9.30 am on 31 January 2023. Mr Sajay K R (Asso Prof, MCA Dept) welcomed the participants and dignitaries and Dr Reji C Joy (HOD, MCA Dept) gave an overview of the workshop. Dr Saji C B (Principal) inaugurated the workshop and delivered the inaugural address. Mr Suresh Lal (Executive Director, VICT) gave felicitations. Mr Manesh D (Co-ordinator & Asst Prof, MCA Dept) proposed the vote of thanks.

Various Sessions in the workshop
  • Website Creation Using Google Sites:The first topic was on creating a website using the features available in Google Sites and it was handled by Ms Salkala K S and Ms Siji K B ( Assistant Professors, MCA Dept).
  • Ethical hacking:The second topic was “Ethical Hacking” handled by Mr Arun P R (Trade Instructor, EEE Dept).As an articulate person with much expertise in ethical hacking, the participants greatly enjoyed the presentation.
  • Looker:The third topic was “Looker” presented by Mr Sajay K R (Associate Professor, MCA Dept). Mr Sajay is an experienced resource person who has taken sessions in different institutions. Looker enables users to create informative and visual dashboards that are easy to interpret, share, and customize.
  • Amazing AI:The fourth topic was “Amazing AI” handled by Ms Jyothi P R (Trade Instructor, MCA Dept). Ms Jyothi is one of the trainers in Vidya campus and has trained many students of Vidya and other organizations. In this workshop, she introduced various AI tools and it was a novel experience for the participants. The novelty was very much appreciated.

Winners of Website Creation Contest

The workshop conducted a competition too. The competition was to create a website using the tools explained in the session on Google Sites. Nearly, all the participants participated in the competition. Judges felt that the prize winning entries were of such high quality beyond all their expectations. Valedictory Function

 All participants of the workshop actively gave feedback for the various sessions that were conducted during the workshop. Prize winners of the website creation contest were given cash prizes along with certificates. The function came to an end by handing over participation certificates and cute small lamps to all the participants of the workshop of Chip-to-Net 8.1. These lamps happens to be the icon of Vidya’s light of knowledge which will be spread across through these participants. Dr V N Krishnachandran (Former Vice-Principal & Head of Dept of MCA) and also the mastermind behind the idea of Chip-to-Net, had happily volunteered to sponsor these lamps.
