• Vidya proud students envisaged agribusiness incubation and for venture creation in agriculture.‘Cultio Agri-tech’ startup by mechanical student Adam Gil Christ Joy (S5,ME Dept) selected with a startup grand of Rs 10 lakhs by Raftaar Agri Business Incubator,Kerala Agriculture University, Thrissur.
• Vidya team Solar Hex consisting of (Alen M A (S5 ECE Dept),Adwaith E S (S5 ECE Dept), Afla C V (S5 ECE Dept),students (S5 ECE Dept),Aman Joju (S5 ECE Dept), Aleena Varghese (S5 ECE Dept) nailed NASA International Space Apps Challenge 2024 among the best 10 teams and received  ‘NASA International Space Apps Challenge Award 2024’ on 24 October  2024.
• P Tarun Kumar (Former NSS Volunteer Secretary, 2020-24 Batch , EEE Dept) received  as APJ AKTU NSS Cell Directorate Level Best Volunteer Award for 2022-2023 in recognition of his exemplary servicefrom Dr.R Bindhu (Minister for Higher Education and Social Justice Kerala)  on 10 October  24.
• EEE students  Abhishek S Nair (S8, EEE Dept), Gokul P (S8, EEE Dept), Rishikesh Krishnan K (S8, EEE Dept) and Sanju P Joju (S8, EEE Dept) won first prize in National level Project Expo ‘Engenius’ in Electrical and Electronics Engineering for their project ‘Forest Fire Detection Module’
• 9 students (2020-24  Batch) have successfully qualified  the GATE 2024 .
• CSE students A Ardra Nair (S7, CSE Dept), Aparna Menon (S7, CSE Dept) and Aiswarya Chandran (S7, CSE Dept) won first prize in the event ‘IT-Rix
• Vidya student Chaitra Prasad (S7,ECE Dept)  won ‘ISTE Kerala Section’s Best Student Award 2024
• Vidya Students Binil Babu won second  and Sparsh N S, Darwin T D and Jithin P S won third prize in India Challenge 2024 by Red Hat Academy

NAAC B++ grade for Vidya
With an aim to ensure Vidya meets certain standards of quality in education, research, and infrastructure, National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC)  Peer Team made a  thorough assessment at Vidya during 21-22 October 2024 and Vidya got NAAC B++ grade. NAAC accreditation process played a vital role in guaranteeing the quality and excellence of Higher Education Institutions (HEI) .

Placement 

At Vidya, we make every effort to hone the technical and analytical skills of our students by conducting  various  kinds of placement training that focuses on state-of-the-art technical aspects in their respective disciplines.Our Highly experienced and skilled faculties are our biggest strength. We have achieved quite a few land marks in this year so far and we have set new targets and goals for the upcoming year.
The 2020-24 Batch students of Vidya Academy of Science and Technology, once again achieved the milestone of crossing 300 placement offers mark. Congratulations to all the campus placed students and to those who have availed the higher education opportunities for doing their M. Tech and MBA programs.

Core engineering branches recruitment by Al Nasr Contracting LLC with a starting annual package of Rs 15 lakhs stands among the crowd. After the recruitment process 10 final year students have been placed with this prestigious engineering firm with a starting annual package of Rs 15 lakhs for their projects in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.Rishikesh Krishnan K (EEE Dept), Abishikth K Jos (EEE Dept), Athul K Biju (EEE Dept), Adhithya MS (CE Dept), Amalkrishna K J (CE Dept),, Nibuhan (CE Dept), Mohammed Ismail P K (ME Dept), Sibin Joseph (ME Dept), Greeto C S (ME Dept), Meghna Vasanth V (ME Dept). Proton Engineering LLC, a leading Electro-Mechanical company in the UAE, also conducted a recruitment drive for 2020- 24 batch students from core branches EEE and ME were  offered placements.

Scholarship Endowment Distribution Function
Upholding the great ideals of “Educate, Enlighten”, the scholarship endowment distribution function was organized on 13 July 2024 as a stepping stone towards the development and upliftment of the socially and educationally diffident group.The function was attended by the honored luminaries of VICT, and a host of renowned personalities. The presence of scholarship awardees and the endowment prize winners along with their parents added a zest to the function. A total of 113 scholarships and endowments to the newly selected students were distributed during the programme.  Mr V P Nandakumar (Managing Director & CEO, Manappuram Finance Ltd) poised the occasion as Chief Guest

The auspicious venue was  filled with an air of excitement and merriment of scholarly accomplishments at their Graduation Ceremony 2024 took place on 24 August 2024. ‘VYUHA’ takes flight : Vidya College Magazine Releasing Ceremony

‘VYUHA‘ – Vidya  college magazine for the academic year 2023-24 presents a vibrant testimony of our college community’s imagination, resilience, and collective creativity. As a reflection of the intellectual and cultural achievements of our students and faculty, this year’s magazine edition by Vidh Vangmay Editorial Board ,  is a vibrant display of articles, artworks, and photographs that have framed the dynamic campus life during the year.The College Magazine Releasing Ceremony was held on 30 December 2024 with enthusiasm, celebrating the collective efforts of students and faculty in creating the magazine ‘Vyuha’. The event began with a warm welcome, followed by the unveiling of the magazine by Dr Sunitha C (Principal)

Publishing ceremony of the Differently Abled Persons Survey Report

Vidya signed an MoU with Cherpu Block Panchayath. Based on this, a survey was carried  to help differently abled persons based on their needs, to provide appropriate rehabilitation work and to identify their exact locations and category of disability.
Cherpu Block Panchayath conducted an official function for the launch of Survey Report Software for Disabled Persons at Cherpu Block Panchayath Office on 24 October 2024.Around 100 members including different Panjayath presidents, CDS members, standing committee members, Asha workers were present in the meeting.The inauguration was perfomed by Mr V S Prince (District Panchayath President) by publishing the differently abled persons Survey Report to Mr Nizamudeen A, IAS (KILA Director).

Vidya Central Library

Vidya Central Library and ISTE celebrate glory of the Constitution Day with Extempore Competition NAHALA ABDUL LATHEEF V A (S1, ECE Dept) and  AYSHA SHAFEEK M M (S1, CSE Dept) secured First  and   Second  Prize respectively . Vidya Central Library organized an array of activities to commemorate 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of India on 26 November 2024 including reading out the Preamble. E-Resources Awareness Sessions, With an aim to enhance students’ access to literature and promote a deeper connection with the reading material,  several sessions were held including that of ‘Rekindle the spark’ , Ignite the spark’ etc. Extempore Competition on the theme of ‘Election 2024 were also conducted that voiced ingenious ideas with diligence as Vidya’s best orators

Tribute to Dr D Balakrishnan (Founder Academic Director) & Er K R Brahmadathan (Founder Executive Director, VICT)

In remembrance of late Dr D Balakrishnan (DB sir) – Founder Academic Director,  Vidya arranged a befitting tribute on 17 August 2024 in the main lobby of the college.Floral tributes were offered before the image of  Dr D Balakrishnan by Mr Suresh Lal (Executive Director, VICT),Dr Sunitha C (Principal), Vidya Staff Members and students.

Vidya paid affluent tribute to Er K R Brahmadathan (Founder Executive Director, VICT) who was a true far-sighted and pioneer at the forefront of the establishment of Vidya on 28 September 2024 on his 14^th  death anniversary. Floral tributes were presented before the picture of  Er K R Brahmadathan by Mr Suresh Lal (Executive Director, VICT),Dr Sunitha C (Principal), Vidya Staff Members and students.

Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC)

The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC) at Vidya Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) aims to foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among students. It serves as a platform for budding entrepreneurs to develop their ideas into viable products and businesses through mentorship, workshops, and networking opportunities. Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme in partnership with MSME DFO, Thrissur. IEDC conducted Boot Camp with an array of exemplary sessions IEEEThe IEEE Student Branch (SB) at Vidya Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) serves as a platform for students to enhance their technical knowledge and professional skills. It provides opportunities for students to engage in technology-focused activities, attend expert talks, and participate in IEEE initiatives. Dr Sudha Balagopalan (Dean Academics, Lead, ISV South Asia Working Group), Vidya staff members and students attended  the webinar ‘Is Your Project Economic to Sustain’ hosted by IEEE Smart Village SWAG., Dean Vidya staff members and students attend the webinar hosted by IEEE Smart Village South Asia WGWith an aim to exchange of ideas to contribute to effective solutions to global challenges, a session ‘EmpowerHER Egypt Program ‘ Advancing Women in STEM Higher Education and Careers’ was held during 18-19 February 2024. Dr Sudha Balagopalan (Dean Academics, Lead, ISV South Asia Working Group) gave an invited talk in the conclave on 18 February 2024 and took part in the discussion session on 19 February 2024. IEEE Membership Development Campaign (MDC) Programme was conducted  on 01 November 2024

Vidya Social Empowerment Centre (VSEC)

The Vidya Social Empowerment Centre (VSEC) at Vidya Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) focuses on fostering social responsibility and empowering communities through various outreach programmes and initiatives. Through skill development sessions, awareness campaigns, and community engagement projects, VSEC nurtures socially responsible individuals dedicated to sustainable development and community welfare. The VSEC Day celebration was inaugurated by Dr R Bindu (Minister for Higher Education and Social Justice, Government of Kerala) on 10 February 2024 through online. The winners of Science Quiz Ardra Krishnakumar (Amrita Vidyalayam, Ayyanthole), Atul K J (Gurukulam Public School, Venginissery) and Vaiga Mahesh (Amrita Vidyalayam) were awarded with prize money of Rs 5000/-, Rs 3000/- Rs 2000 /- respectively during the function. An excellent presentation on the topic of ‘ADITYA L1’ was given by VSEC Scholarship recipient Maheshwari Madhu (S.H.C.G.H.S.S Thrissur). VSEC also conducted  sessions on “How activities and interaction motivate children, Importance of Energy Conservation and Summer , Empowerment Program 2K24: Embrace the Power of Possibility, ‘Introducing Functions’ at SOS Students Village, VSEC conducts session on ‘Importance of 3P’s in our life’, “EARTH HAS FEVER’, “How to Protect Our Children in this Digital World  etc with the theme as ‘Global Warming .VSEC celebrated Reading Week ‘SAS’ with an array of activities under the theme ‘Global Warming’. Vidya Science Talent Test Ed.3’ was conducted successfully and the winners were announced.

SPORTS

The sports teams of Vidya  have consistently showcased outstanding performances across various tournaments and championships, reflecting their dedication, discipline, and sportsmanship. Over the past year, Vidya’s athletes have excelled in diverse events, securing top positions in athletics, table tennis, chess, kabaddi, kho-kho, badminton, and shooting championships at state, regional, and national levels. Their achievements not only highlight their individual and team capabilities but also underscore the college’s commitment to promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and holistic development among students.

VYVIDH – Techno Cultural Fest

Budding engineers exhibited their skillfulness in a plethora of events intended to keep fit their brains. The two day technical extravaganza VYVIDH 2K24 organized by the students from all the branches of Vidya during 29 February – 01 March 2024 switched a series of events including that of expo related to artificial intelligence and machine learning (AIML Dept), Self-made low-cost suspension bridge (CE Dept), Kerala’s second largest LAN event Esports tournament ‘Respawn (CSE Dept), new experience of the electrical genre, transported to the world of the beloved web series and witnessing a high voltage magical arc ‘ELECSPIRE’ (EEE Dept), a variety of remote-controlled (RC) vehicles and thrilling displays of precision driving, aerial acrobatics, and high-speed action ‘HAULIN’TORQU’ (ECE Dept), a new experience to car and bike lovers in ‘Agni Chakra’, super bikes and super cars like AUDI R8, BMW F90 BAGGED, TOYOTA CELICA and NISSAN 350Z, (ME Dept), cyber security stealth vigilance innovation with the aim of imparting the latest innovations and new knowledge of power sector to the common man ‘ADWAITHA’ (MCA) which left the participants enormously satisfied. Coupled with an extremely appreciated project expo ‘AVISHKAR’,’IDEATHON’,‘EXPRIMERE’– a paper presentation competition, Cultural extravaganza’ Open Style Battle Dance Competition’ the techfest has become even more magnificent and elegant.
The launching of website served an incredible event for Vidya students that an eminent personality and an engineer with profound expertise and leadership who has been inspiring the countless younger minds, Mr Krishna Teja IAS (Thrissur District Collector),unveiled the brochure and website of VYVIDH 2024’ and sets the perfect tone for the Techfest activities.

VYVIDH 2024-25

VYVIDH 2024-25  buzzed with excitement with website launching ceremony by Thrissur District Collector Mr Arjun Pandian IAS. YVIDH 2024-’25  –  A supreme destination for all technophiles, beginner or expert, student or professional to witness, learn and experience the wonders of science and technology !!!To provide a platform and keep the  innovative minds as enthusiastic and motivated,  VYVIDH 2024-’25  attracted  people from all walks of life including students, academics, professionals and the general public. The two-day Central Committee  events  (‘AVISHKAR’ – for final year students of Diploma, B Tech, M Tech, MCA, ‘IDEATHON’,  ‘FLEX FORUM’ – a paper presentation competition, ‘NAVAYUVA’  – Project Expo for school students showcased the innovation and creativity of younger minds passionate about cutting-edge technology).

Within the boundaries of Vidya, lies an entirely different world- youth, overloaded with talent and infinite imagination. Vidya celebrated  diversity in technology at VYVIDH 2024-’25 during 04-05 October 2024. With underlying spirit, ambitious events like  ‘EMMERSO’ (AIML Dept), ‘DESTROY THE DECIBEL’ (CSE Dept), ‘VASTATVA’(CE Dept), ‘LIGA-ROBOTICS’ (ECE Dept), ‘ELECSPIRE’ (EEE Dept), ‘ADVAITA’ (MCA), ‘AGNICHAKRA’ (ME  Dept) kindled a fervent interest in engineering and technology while inspiring and nurturing younger minds  in different progressive realms. The event was inaugurated by Mr Manoj Chalakkal (PTA President) and Dr Sunitha C (Principal) and  addressed to a diverse gathering of students, and enthusiasts keen on exploring the realms of innovative technology and vibrant culture.

• The UPSC civil services result 2024 brings a magnificent moment that overflowed our heart with pride and joy as Vidya’s alumnus Mr Akshay Dileep (2012-16 Batch, Production Engineering Dept) got into the elite group of most covetable Civil Service success list with rank 439.
• CE alumnus Mr Vivek V S (2018-2020 M Tech, CE Dept) admitted  to PhD program in Construction Materials at IIT BombayCE alumna
• Ms Nanditha Varma (2016-2020 B Tech, CE Dept) enrolled  joint PhD at IIT Delhi, in collaboration with the University of Queensland , Australia

• AVA Annual General Meeting 2024 
• AGM hosted by Association of Vidya Alumni (AVA) marked a momentous day for the alumni community on 17 August 2024.The function started with alumni planting saplings in the college to create awareness about the importance of tree plantation. The first batch of ECE (2003-2007) under the patronage Association of Vidya ECE alumni (AVEA) instituted scholarships Rs.25000/- per semester. Dr Jeeva K A (Mentor, Scholarship Committee 2003-2007 Batch, HoD, AIML Dept) who served as a former Professor in ECE Dept and the group tutor of (2003-2007 batch) presented the scholarship to Benita B B (S3,ECE Dept) and Angel Maria (S3,ECE Dept) .

PhD Holders 2024

Vidya faculty members continue to achieve great things that reflect their talents and commitment to excellence and make a lasting impact. Dr Shameem S (Asst Prof, CSE Dept) has successfully defended her PhD thesis titled “Performance Analysis Of Distributed Raman Amplifier In DWDM Communcation Systems”. The rigorous session took place on 16 February 2024 in front of an esteemed panel of experts at the VIT Chennai. Dr Sajay K R (Asso Prof, MCA)  successfully defended his PhD thesis titled “Fortified classification of health care data using Machine learning techniques with a robust secured environment” on 28 March 2024, at the Bharathiar University campus in Coimbatore.

FOSSers Club
The FoSSers Club of VAST  conducts workshops and activities with an objective  to introduce participants to various Wikimedia projects and tools,focusing on practical skills.‘The sessions like ‘Trends and Opportunities in Open Source Software Systems’ , ‘two day Wikimedia Workshop’ provided  participants practical knowledge.

National Service Scheme (NSS)

The National Service Scheme (NSS), which has 4 Units at Vidya is a dedicated student organization focused on fostering social responsibility, leadership, and community engagement among students. Through various initiatives such as environmental campaigns, health awareness drives, and community development projects, NSS VAST empowers students to contribute meaningfully to society. The unit actively organises blood donation camps, cleanliness drives, and skill development programmes, promoting the core values of selfless service and civic responsibility.

Unfortunate demise of  Dr Beena M V (former Asst Prof, CSE Dept) by staying a lasting void with fond memories amid Vidya fraternity.  Vidya felt  sad about the departure of Dr Beena M V (former Asst Prof, CSE Dept) who an ardent teacher, with more than  20 years of experience, Dr Beena has spent sharing the right acquaintance to the students properly. who left us on 06 November 2024.
