A new era of leadership at Vidya
Vidya fraternity warmly welcomes Dr. Sunitha C (Former Vice Principal & HoD, CSE Dept) as she assumes her role as Principal. Her appointment marks an inspiring new chapter for the institution, promising fresh perspectives, innovative leadership, and a renewed academic vision.
Vidya takes a step forward in academic excellence by welcoming Dr. Shalij P. R. as Director (Academics) under visionary leadership.With a distinguished career in government service, Dr. Shalij P. R. retired as Director of Technical Education, Kerala, and held prominent academic leadership positions including Principal of Government Engineering College, Thrissur, and Dean – Research at APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU), contributing significantly to the advancement of higher technical education in the state.
Vidya International Charitable Trust (VICT), a philanthropic organization promoting professionally focused education since 2000, elected a new eleven-member Executive Committee for the 2025–2028 term on 16 November 2025, with Mr. Gireesh Kumar Malattiri as Chairman, Mr. Thilakan K.K as Vice Chairman, Mr. Manu Reghurajan as Secretary, Mr. Shaji P.P as Joint Secretary and Mr. Giridas D as Treasurer.

 400+ Students Placed Across Top Sectors
This year, over 400 students from the 2021–25 batch have been successfully placed in reputed companies across diverse sectors, including the banking sector, with notable placements in esteemed organizations like Federal Bank offering an annual package of Rs. 7.9 Lakhs. In addition, students secured positions in leading IT firms, manufacturing units, and emerging technology startups, reflecting the versatility, skill, and industry readiness nurtured at Vidya.
Empowering Future Engineers: PALS VAST Chapter and Oracle CoE Launch at Vidya
PALS (Pan IIT Alumni Leadership Series) is a volunteer-driven initiative by IIT alumni that aims to enrich engineering education by bridging academia and industry through collaboration and continuous learning.PALS VAST Chapter Launch, held on 04 October 2025, featured an inaugural address by Mr. Anto Varkey (PALS Representative) and was attended by Mr. S. P. Ashokkumar and Mr. P. V. Ravindran, PALS Representatives.
Oracle Center of Excellence (CoE) at Vidya Academy of Science and Technology, inaugurated by Ms. Anuradha Sharma (Head, Oracle Academy, South Asia) and Ms. Neema Sanish (Program Manager, Oracle Academy), has been established to promote best practices in Oracle technologies, foster innovation, provide high-quality training, and equip students and faculty with industry-relevant skills

Dr. Sunitha C (Principal) received the Best Institution Award on behalf of Vidya and Mr. Anil Melepurath (YIP Nodal Officer & Asst Prof, ECE Dept ) was honored with the Best Facilitator Award at the State Innovators Meet 2025 under the Young Innovators Programme (YIP 7.0).
The team Unfazed – comprising Nivin P Louis (S5, AIML Dept), Sisira T S (S5, AIML Dept),Shafna Nezrein (S5, AIML Dept),Sreehari K (S5, AIML Dept) and Vivek Chandran (S5, AIML Dept) was awarded First Place for their innovative project, Clippable AAC Device, at STRIDE Designathon 2025.
Vidya  achieved a proud milestone in its sustainability journey by receiving the “Green Institution” (A Grade) Award from Haritha Keralam Mission.

Pioneering Research at Vdya
Dr. Abitha M A (Asst Prof, Prof, ECE Dept) has been awarded the KTU Research Seed Money grant of Rs. 2,00,000/- for her proposal “Optimal Guidance System for Quadrotor UAV Maneuvering in Rescue Operations”, selected among over 100 proposals through a rigorous two-stage evaluation process, highlighting the significance of her research and marking a notable achievement for both her and Vidya.
The student project “Replacement and Optimization of Biochar Brick and Plastering for Carbon Sequestration”, led by Ms. Nirmala Krishnan (Principal Investigator) and Ms. Nisha Varghese (Co-Investigator), with student team members Athulkrishna V R, Athulya Premlal, Lakshmi K S, and Arjun C (S8, CE Dept), has been approved for financial assistance of Rs. 37,500/- under the Centre for Engineering Research and Development (CERD) of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University.
The student project “Robotic Exoskeleton for Hand Rehabilitation through Assisted Motion in Physiotherapy”, led by Principal Investigator Ms. Jemy Jose Kakkassery and Co-Investigator Dr. S. Swapna Kumar of ECE Department, with students Delsen Sabu, Gayathri K S, Minsa Thomas, and Niranjan Das S J (S8, ECE Dept), has been awarded Rs. 23,000/– in financial support under the Centre for Engineering Research and Development (CERD) of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University

ADVIKA 2025, the Arts Festival of Vidya Academy of Science and Technology, held from 28 February to 01 March 2025, highlighted the power of art in nurturing creativity and self-expression among students. Organized by Senate Conveners Mr. Sangeeth K. K. and Ms. Salkala K. S. with the collective support of the Vidya fraternity, the festival emerged as a spirited celebration of art, culture, and creativity.
The Annual Day Celebration on 28 March 2025 featured a captivating array of performances, reflecting the diverse emotions of our students. The stage came alive with vibrant expressions of pride, joy, honor, and the many shades of life.
INNOFEST served as a perfect platform for the talented students of Vidya to showcase their skills and creativity under one roof on 02 April 2025. The event was organized by the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC) in association with ISTE (Indian Society for Technical Education), Institution of Engineers – IE(I), and the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC). . Vidya’s Techno-Cultural Fest – VYVIDH 2025 , held on 26–27 September 2025, emerged as the ultimate hub for innovation, where ideas met action and technophiles explored the frontiers of science and technology. The festival was inaugurated jointly by Mr. Ramkumar A. V. (Associate Principal Consultant, Unisys India; Vidya Alumnus, 2003–07, ECE) and Adv. Pulari Rajeev (Vice President, PTA) under the leadership of Dr. Sunitha C (Principal) in the presence of Dr. Shalij P. R. (Director – Academics, VICT), Ms. Anitha L. (Convenor, VYVIDH; Asst. Prof., CSE), Mr. Naveen T. P. (Joint Convener; Asst. Prof., ME), faculty members, and students from various institutions. The two-day festival fostered innovation, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing through events such as AVISHKAR, FLEX FORUM, NAVAYUVA and REEL RUSH alongside department-led flagship programmes including EMMERSO, DESTROY THE DECIBEL, VASTATVA, LIGA-ROBOTICS, KERAUNOS, ADVAITA, and AGNICHAKRA, inspiring young minds across diverse technological domains. The fest was formally set in motion on 16 September 2025 by Mr. R. Ilango IPS (Thrissur City Police Commissioner) with the launch of the official website and brochure.
Vidya Alumni Association (AVA) held its Annual General Meeting and Alumni Meet ‘Aternum’ on 25 December 2025 to reconnect alumni with their alma mater and celebrate their achievements, beginning with a prayer, welcome address by Mr. Piyush (AVA Vice President), a speech by Mr. Ajin Aravind (AVA Vice President), and an inspiring inauguration by Dr. Sunitha C (Principal).
Vidya Central Library
Vidya Central Library organized activities on 26 November 2024 to mark the 76th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of India, during which , the Preamble was read by Amritha S., students took a constitutional oath, and Pavithra Pradeep presented an awareness project on constitutional values, fundamental duties, and the relevance of Sustainable Development Goals in education.
Vidya Research Center (VRC), in in collaboration with Vidya Central Library and ISTE conducted a workshop on “Academic Publishing – Platforms, Metrics, and AI Tools for Academic Writing” on 25 November 2025 to equip faculty with scholarly publishing skills and the session led by Dr. Prasanth M. (Librarian, Dept of Commerce & Management Studies, University of Calicut) as the resource person.
Vidya Central Library, in collaboration with The Institution of Engineers (India) (IEI), organized a literary book review contest titled ‘Read & Rekindle’ on 25 July 2025  and the winners were Aysha Shafeek M. M. (S3, CSE) for first prize and Daya T. S. (S7, CE) for second prize.
National Digital Library of India (NDLI), a virtual repository developed and maintained by IIT Kharagpur, provides streamlined, multilingual access to diverse learning resources, and during an introductory session on 09 April 2025, Mr. Girish Kumar P. C. (Librarian) highlighted its key features and conducted a hands-on registration and training session for all first-year B.Tech students
To honor freedom fighters and celebrate India’s democratic and cultural heritage, VAST Central Library, in association with the Vidya Literary Club and ISTE, organized the Republic Day 2025 speech competition ‘SAS – Speak and Shine’ and the winners were Aavani K. Shine (S4, CSE) first, Sinan Sulaiman (S8, ME) second and Gayathri C. G. (S4, CSE) third.
Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC)
IEDC hosted the SIH Internal Hackathon 2025 on 9–10 September 2025, with 270 students from various departments forming 45 teams to participate in a 24-hour hybrid hackathon that combined online and offline collaboration, beginning with project initiation on 09 September and concluding on 10 September with final presentations before a distinguished panel of judges
Through IEDC, Vidya made a strong impact in the K-DISC-launched Young Innovators Programme (YIP), with 40 student projects selected as finalists and securing an overall third position
IEDC Thrissur Cluster Student Leads Meet was successfully conducted as a two-day residential camp at Vidya Academy of Science and Technology on 07–08 March 2025 and was inaugurated by Mr. Prasanth K. Prasadh (Operations Director, ExoDyne Pvt. Ltd.)
Sinan Sulaiman (Chief Social Officer, IEDC VAST, S8,ME Dept) conducted an orientation session on the Young Innovators Programme (YIP) 7.0 at Sree Krishna College, Guruvayur on 14 January 2025
FOSSERS Club
FOSSERS Club conducted a series of impactful technical and innovation-driven initiatives aimed at empowering students with emerging digital skills. The “Get Started with Web3” workshop held on 18 January 2025 in collaboration with the Web3 Kerala Initiative introduced participants to blockchain fundamentals, Bitcoin, cryptocurrency ecosystems, and decentralized applications through a blend of theory, live smart contract demonstrations, and interactive quizzes, with winners receiving Web3 Kerala T-shirts and FOSSERS Club stickers.  
In February 2025, the club launched AIKYAM, a new FOSSERS initiative symbolizing unity through innovation, integrating three key domains—FOSS (Free and Open Source Software), Web3, and Design—to foster interdisciplinary collaboration; the launch included networking, ideation sessions, certificate distribution, and future plans for tech meetups, hackathons, and design sprints.
On 19 April 2025, twenty FOSSERS members participated in a Web3 exploration and AVAX token session hosted by Web3 Kerala at the Digital Revolution Gaming Café, Thrissur, gaining hands-on exposure to blockchain-based gaming, tokenization, decentralized networks, and real-world digital economies. This was followed by Linux Fest, a full-day workshop on 28 May 2025 that covered open-source operating systems, command-line tools, shell scripting, system administration, cybersecurity, DevOps, and AI deployment, reinforcing Linux as the backbone of modern computing.
Culminating these efforts, a student-led innovation project, the “Ondot Next” app, was officially launched on 07 July 2025, showcasing students’ capabilities in full-stack development, collaborative project management, and community-focused digital solutions
Three students from our institution, members of the FOSSERS Club, actively participated in a conference held as part of the 23rd Anniversary celebrations of Malayalam Wikipedia, gaining valuable exposure to open knowledge platforms, Wikimedia projects, AI-driven language technologies, digital archiving, and open-source collaboration that significantly enriched their learning experience.
FOSSERS Club of Vidya Academy of Science & Technology, Thrissur, successfully conducted an online orientation session titled “Getting Started with GSoC 2026” on 28 December 2025, handled by Mr. Nivin P Louis (S6,  AIML Dept), to introduce students to global open-source opportunities through Google Summer of Code.
NSS
NSS activities conducted during the year 2025 reflect the strong commitment of the volunteers toward social responsibility, community engagement, and sustainable development. Through a wide range of initiatives including health camps, blood donation drives, environmental conservation activities, awareness programs, cultural outreach, and welfare services, the NSS units actively contributed to the well-being of society while fostering leadership, teamwork, and civic consciousness among students.
  • Velur Anganwadi Beautification: NSS volunteers conducted painting and beautification work at Velur Anganwadi to enhance the learning environment.

  • Herbal Garden Cleaning at Velur Panchayath: Volunteers cleaned and maintained the herbal garden to promote environmental sustainability.

  • Flash Mob on Drug-Free Society: NSS volunteers organized a flash mob to spread awareness about the importance of a drug-free society.

  • NSS Rudhirasena State RC Meet: NSS volunteers participated in the state-level Rudhirasena Regional Coordinators’ meet.

  • KTU Care Activity at Friends of Jesus Gagultha: Volunteers organized cultural programs and interactive activities for the inmates.

  • Integrated Farming Activity: NSS volunteers actively participated in integrated farming activities within the campus.

  • NRPF Annual Meet Participation: NSS volunteers participated in the NRPF annual meet to engage in collaborative initiatives.

  • Wayanad Flood Relief Fund Contribution: Vidya NSS Units contributed to the Wayanad flood relief and rehabilitation efforts.

  • Republic Day Flag Hoisting Ceremony: NSS units organized and participated in the Republic Day flag hoisting ceremony on campus.

  • KTU Care & Energy Cell Orientation Programme: An orientation programme was conducted to familiarize NSS volunteers with KTU Care and Energy Cell initiatives.

  • Sasneham Oru Oonu – Pothichoru Distribution: NSS volunteers distributed 320 wrapped meals to the needy as part of the Sasneham Oru Oonu initiative.

  • Eye Testing Camp: NSS units organized an eye testing camp in association with Maxivision Eye Hospital.

  • Leprosy Awareness Session: An awareness session was conducted to educate participants about leprosy prevention and treatment.

  • Service of Excellence from Velur Health Centre: Vidya NSS Units were honored for their outstanding volunteer service at the Velur Family Health Centre.

  • Debate Competition: NSS units conducted a debate competition to enhance students’ analytical and communication skills.

  • Self-Defence Training Programme: A self-defence training session was conducted by professional martial artists for student safety awareness.

  • Energy Quiz: An energy awareness quiz was organized with enthusiastic student participation.

  • Blood Donation Camp (26 March 2025): NSS units successfully organized a blood donation camp collecting 101 units of blood.

  • Blood Donation Camp (27 March 2025): Another blood donation camp was conducted with 89 donors participating.

  • Library Archiving: NSS volunteers digitized 1,575 books as part of the library archiving initiative.

  • Expert Talk on Drug Influence (Online): An online expert talk was conducted to create awareness about the influence of drugs among students.

  • Appreciation for Snehakoodu Project: Vidya NSS Units received a certificate of appreciation from the Honorable Minister for Higher Education for their contribution to the Snehakoodu project.

  • Blood Donors Registration Campaign: The campaign resulted in the registration of 206 voluntary blood donors.

  • Library Digitization – Phase II: NSS volunteers successfully completed the second phase of library digitization at Purogamana Kalavedhi Vayanashala.

  • Thalir Buds Pravesanolsavam: Volunteers organized cultural performances and distributed gifts to children as part of the programme.

  • Paper Pen Making Activity: NSS volunteers crafted 48 eco-friendly paper pens using recycled materials.

  • Rudhirasena Regional Meet – Awards: Vidya NSS Units received multiple awards for outstanding performance at the Rudhirasena regional meet.

  • Selection of Jithisha U J as Regional Coordinator: Ms. Jithisha U J was selected as a Regional Coordinator of Rudhirasena for the TCR–PKD region.

  • World Environment Day Activities: NSS units organized activities promoting environmental awareness and conservation.

  • NRPF Orientation Programme: An orientation programme was conducted to introduce volunteers to NRPF objectives and responsibilities.

  • Appreciation from Government Medical College, Thrissur: Vidya Academy was honored for its significant contribution to blood donation initiatives.

  • APJAKTU NSS Rudhirasena State-Level Awards: NSS units received state-level awards for organizing the highest number of blood donation camps and donations.

  • International Yoga Day Observance: NSS volunteers conducted a yoga session at Friends of Jesus Bhavanam.

  • Library Digitization at Choondal Grameena Vayanashala: NSS volunteers digitized more than 1,600 books to preserve community library resources.

  • International Day Against Drug Abuse Pledge: NSS volunteers participated in an online pledge-taking programme against drug abuse.

  • Regional Anti-Drug Campaign – Bodhapoornima: NSS volunteers participated in the TCR-PKD regional anti-drug awareness campaign.

  • Sasneham Oru Oonu – July Edition: NSS volunteers distributed meals to St. Joseph Mental Health Care Home and ACTS, Thrissur.

  • NRPF Thrissur–Palakkad Regional Meet: NSS NRPF unit coordinators participated in the regional meet.

  • Energy Cell UC Regional Meet: Energy Cell unit coordinators represented the institution at the regional meet.

  • Punarjani Activity at Wadakanchery District Hospital: NSS volunteers carried out repair, cleaning, and maintenance works to support hospital facilities.

  • World Nature Conservation Day – Paper Pen Distribution: NSS volunteers distributed eco-friendly paper pens to promote environmental awareness.

  • Pol-Blood Award 2024–25: Vidya NSS Units secured first place for mobilizing the highest number of blood donors.

  • NSS Orientation Programme 2025: An orientation programme was conducted for newly enrolled NSS volunteers.

  • Swachhata and Cleanliness Drives: NSS volunteers conducted multiple cleaning drives, wall painting, and Swachhata pledge activities.

  • Mental Health Day Flash Mob: NSS volunteers organized a flash mob to raise awareness about mental health.

  • 7-Day NSS Special Camp: A seven-day residential NSS special camp was conducted with 80 volunteers focusing on community development and social responsibility.

Vidya Social Empowerment Center (VSEC)
In 2025, VSEC organized a wide range of empowerment, educational, and community engagement programs, including online and on-site sessions on personal growth, sustainability, mathematics, AI, and mindful parenting, along with reading and interactive activities at SOS Villages, industry interactions, and orientation programs for students and staff; these initiatives were supported by faculty and student volunteers, and complemented by notable scholarly achievements such as Ph.D. completions and a UK design patent, reflecting VSEC’s commitment to holistic student development, social responsibility, and academic excellence.
  • VSEC Empowerment Programme was conducted at SOS Children’s Village, Thrissur, on 12 January 2025 with the participation of Ms. Aswathy Alathu Karunakaran (Asst. Prof., AS Dept), Ann Rose Rajan (S6, AIML Dept), Anagha K. Sudharsanan (S6, CSE Dept), and Abin C. S (S6, ME Dept).

  • VSEC organized an online empowerment program titled “Empowerment Program 2K25: Turn Possibilities into Reality” on 14 January 2025, which was conducted by Ms. Akhila R (Asst. Prof., EEE Dept).

  • VSEC organized a two-day online empowerment program titled “Empowerment Program 2K25: Turn Possibilities into Reality” on 15 January 2025, and the sessions were conducted by Mr. Alex Chacko (Research Scholar, ME Dept, GEC Thrissur).

  • VSEC conducted an activity session titled “The Instinct: Tell Me Why?” at Nanma Learning Centre, Engandiyur, on 19 January 2025, led by Dr. Siju K. C (Head, VSEC & Assoc. Prof., AS Dept) and Ms. Rachana Sajeev (Asst. Prof., AS Dept), with support from student volunteers Sreyas Linith (S4, CSE), Abraham John Earaly (S4, ECE), C. D. Adithyan (S4, AIML), Nandhana K. (S4, CSE), and Theertha Suran V. (S4, CSE).

  • VSEC conducted a session on “Sustainability to Combat Global Warming – The Clock Is Ticking” on 24 January 2025, handled by Akshay K. R (S8, CSE Dept).

  • VSEC conducted a session titled “Sustainability: A Key to Combating Global Warming” , delivered by Jithisha U. J (S4, CSE Dept).

  • VSEC organized an internal talk on “Nature and Pollution” on 07 March 2025, delivered by Akshay (S8, CSE Dept).

  • VSEC, in collaboration with the Anti-Ragging Committee, organized an online educational program titled “Empowering Education for a Drug-Free Future” on 10 March 2025, led by Major Joseph K. P (Veteran).

  • The Placement Cell and the Vidya Social Empowerment Centre (VSEC), a unit of Vidya International Charitable Trust (VICT), organized an industry interaction session titled “Navigating the Future” on 17 March 2025, featuring Dr. Sureshkumar Madhusudhanan (Secretary General, Indo Gulf & Middle East Chamber of Commerce and CMD, Seagull International Group).
