The Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) VAST Chapter continued its mission of promoting technical excellence and innovation throughout the academic year 2024–25. Committed to excellence and innovation, the VAST Chapter carried out numerous initiatives during the academic year 2024–25. Working closely with multiple departments and institutional units, the chapter organized numerous academic, technical, and co-curricular events.

| With immense honor and pride, the Editorial Team of News & Events is delighted to share that Dr. Sunitha C (Chairman, Vidya ISTE Chapter and Principal) and Mr Sarath Babu Ramachandran (Faculty Advisor, Secretary, ISTE VAST, Asst Prof – Sel.Grade, ME Dept), received the award on 17 January 2026 at the 36th Annual State Convention of the ISTE Kerala Section and and National Seminar on ‘AI as an Accelerator to SDGs: Pathways and Possibilities’.The award was presented by Mr. Muraleedharan Manningal (CEO, ICT Academy of Kerala) in the esteemed presence of Dr. Achutsankar S. Nair (Former Professor & Head, Department of Bioinformatics, University of Kerala), Dr. Anil B (Former Chairman, ISTE Kerala Section),Dr. Vijayakumar K (Chairman, ISTE Kerala Section), Prof. Biju M. J. (Secretary, ISTE Kerala Section) and Dr. Shalij P. R. (Director -Academics, Vidya International Charitable Trust). |
| Connecting Learning and Industry: ISTE activities at Vidya 2023–24 |
| ISTE Chapter at Vidya continues to bridge the gap between academia and industry by providing a platform for students and faculty to develop technical knowledge, managerial skills, and teamwork. During the academic year 2023–24, the chapter organized many academic and technical activities such as paper presentation competitions, awareness sessions, Vidya Science Talent Test, a Wikimedia Workshop, and an empowerment programme titled Empowerment Program 2K25. Events like Constitution Day Extempore Competition and Republic Day Speech Competition were also conducted.Several Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs) were organized on topics including sustainable construction, robotics and automation, deep learning, teaching in the AI age, generative AI, and applications of mathematics in science and technology. The chapter also conducted industry interaction sessions, mentoring programmes, and hands-on workshops on Arduino, robotics, concrete mix design, quantity take-off, SNAP circuits, ADAS, coding, networking, MATLAB & SIMULINK, Linux, BIM, Web3, and Power B. |
| Additionally, the chapter organized programmes such as scientific writing using LaTeX, Dreamcraft – Building Tomorrow’s Home, and AION – National Science Day celebration, which strengthened practical skills, innovation, and industry preparedness among students and faculty. The chapter further enhanced learning through the National Conference on Recent Emerging Advances in Civil Engineering and Technology (REACT 2025), invited expert talks, INNOFEST 2025 focusing on innovation and entrepreneurship and V-THINC -Mini Project Exhibition. These initiatives enabled the Vidya ISTE Faculty Chapter to equip both internal and external participants with hands-on experience, real-world problem-solving skills, and a strong foundation in creativity, collaboration and professional competence. |
