CSE Dept conducts workshop on “Mastering Prompt Engineering & AI-Powered Canva”

To equip participants with practical skills in prompt engineering and AI-powered Canva tools to create effective AI prompts,a workshop titled “Mastering Prompt Engineering & AI-Powered Canva” was conducted as part of the IT & Maths Club Inauguration at ICA English Higher Secondary School, Vadakkekad on 28 July 2026 by CSE Dept.

Dr. Arjun K P (Asso Prof, CSE Dept) inaugurated the club. The session was handled by Mr. Vishnu N M  (Asst Prof, CSE Dept) The workshop was designed to introduce students to the rapidly evolving field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and demonstrate how AI-powered tools can enhance creativity, productivity, and digital communication.

The primary objective of the workshop was to familiarize students with the fundamentals of prompt engineering and equip them with the skills to effectively use AI tools for designing presentations, creating visual content and developing educational resources. The session also encouraged students to explore AI as a learning companion while emphasizing the importance of responsible, ethical, and purposeful use of emerging technologies.

Workshop Highlights

The session commenced with an introduction to Artificial Intelligence and its increasing influence across education, business, content creation, and everyday problem-solving. Students were introduced to the concept of Prompt Engineering, with emphasis on writing clear, structured, and context-rich prompts to obtain relevant and high-quality AI-generated outputs.

• Creating professional presentations using AI
• Transforming simple prompts into visually appealing slides
• Editing and customizing AI-generated presentations

NotebookLM

• Introduction to Google’s AI-powered research assistant
• Uploading study materials and generating summaries
• Creating notes, FAQs, and study guides
• Using AI for academic research and knowledge organization

Throughout the workshop, students actively participated by experimenting with different prompts and observing how the quality and structure of prompts influenced AI-generated outputs. They also explored practical applications of AI tools in education, creative projects, and academic activities. Discussions highlighted the significance of ethical AI usage, responsible content generation, academic integrity, and critical evaluation of AI-generated information.

4. Feedback

Students particularly appreciated the practical demonstrations of ChatGPT with Canva, Gamma AI, and NotebookLM, as these tools provided hands-on exposure to AI-assisted presentation design, creative content generation, and organization of study materials. The interactive nature of the session encouraged students to experiment with AI tools and understand their practical applications.

Faculty members also appreciated the relevance of the workshop in equipping students with future-ready digital and AI literacy skills.

5. Conclusion

The workshop “Mastering Prompt Engineering & AI-Powered Canva” successfully achieved its objectives by introducing students to practical applications of Artificial Intelligence in education, content creation and digital productivity.
