Obeisances to NSS volunteers for all the services they do!
The NSS volunteers of Vidya effectively utilised the long spell of holidays that the College went through to organise a plethora of activities. Here are glimpses of some of the tasks completed by the volunteers during these holidays and also of some other services rendered by them.

Training in LED bulb and tube light assembling for paraplegia patients
The NSS Technical Cell and the Skill Developmemt Centre of Vidya jointly organised a training programme for paraplegia patients in the assembling of LED tube light and bulbs at the Pain and Palliative Care Society in Thrissur on 31 March 2019. As many as six NSS volunteers participated in providing training to the patients . The focus of the programme was to provide training so that they can start a small scale production centre of their own.
Home for Homeless Project : Plot preparation
The NSS units of Vidya, under Kerala Govt funded Home for Homeless Project, organized a cleaning programme at Velur Grama Panchayat in Thrissur on 14 April 2019. As many as nine volunteers participated. The aim was to make the plot ready for construction of a new house by cutting down trees and cleaning the area.

As a goodwill gesture a group of NSS volunteers attended the house warming ceremony of house built by Solace at Velur Grama Panchayat on 7 April 2019. The NSS volunteers had helped in setting up the electrical wiring of a house.

The NSS units of Vidya presented as a Vishu Kaineettamon an electric fan to the residents of house constructed as part of the Home for Homeless Project of Govt of Kerala.
Cleaning drive at Perumala
The NSS volunteers of the Vidya visited Perumala for making it plastic free under the Swachh Bharath Mission of the Government of India on 15 April 2019. As many as 190 NSS volunteers participated in the cleaning drive. Volunteers collected plastic bottles and plastic covers and deposited the same in the allotted places.
GIS mapping at Choondal Gramapanchayath
As part of seven day special camp, the NSS units of Vidya conducted a GIS mapping at various wards of Choondal Gramapanchayath during 13 – 17 April 2019. A group of 50 NSS volunteers were divided into sub groups and wards were assigned to conduct the survey and mapping. The volunteers also found out the houses which were not mapped during the previous phases of mapping and were surveyed. Around 1500 houses were mapped during the camp.
Waste Water Plant implementation at Vidya
The NSS units of Vidya constructed an uplift for a 2000L water tank for waste water plant implementation in Vidya’s campus during 13 – 16 April 2019. NSS volunteers implemented the 1 feet uplift using the cubic cement blocks and M sand.
