IEDC Thrissur Cluster Student Leads Meet ignites Innovation and Entrepreneurship
The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Center (IEDC) takes offers quite a lot of platforms for student leaders to enhance their entrepreneurial skills, expand their networks, and explore innovative ideas.
The IEDC Thrissur Cluster Student Leads Meet was successfully conducted as a two-day residential camp at Vidya Academy of Science and Technology during 07-08 March 2025. The event was inaugurated by Mr Prasanth K Prasadh (Operations Director, ExoDyne Pvt. Ltd.) who shared his inspiring journey of becoming an entrepreneur. He captivated the audience with insights on overcoming challenges and embracing failure as a stepping stone to success. He also conducted an engaging session on building startups and managing risks. The Presidential Address was delivered by Dr. Swapnakumar (Professor & HoD, ECE Dept) who highlighted the role of academic institutions in nurturing entrepreneurial mindsets and supporting student-led innovations. The event commenced with a welcome address by Suraj Shaju Meledath (CTO, IEDC – Vidya, S8,EEE Dept) who encouraged student leaders to think boldly, embrace innovation, and foster collaboration.
Day one also featured a compelling session by Sinan Sulaiman (CSO, IEDC – Vidya, S8,ME Dept) on “The Right Time for a Startup”, where he discussed the importance of identifying market gaps, timing product launches, and developing resilience as an entrepreneur. This was followed by a session on “Exploring Innovation and Entrepreneurship” by Dr. Abhiroop V M (Assistant Professor, MTI Thrissur) who shared valuable insights into creative problem-solving and business ideation strategies. The day also featured insightful addresses by Dr Princy Francis (HoD and Asst Prof,MES Asmabi College) who spoke about the interdisciplinary nature of entrepreneurship and how students can merge ideas from various domains to create innovative solutions. Additionally Mr Anil M (IEDC Nodal Officer and Asst Prof, ECE Dept) stressed the importance of mentorship, teamwork, and institutional support in transforming ideas into successful ventures. The first day concluded with networking sessions, allowing student leaders from various institutions to connect, exchange ideas, and build potential collaborations.
On the second day, Mr. Bergin S Russel (Assistant Manager, Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) led an informative orientation session. He detailed the new and advanced initiatives introduced by KSUM to strengthen IEDCs across Kerala, equipping student innovators with better resources, mentorship, and funding opportunities. Following this, Mr. Akash M K (Co-founder of GrowthMak and 2017-21 Batch,EEE Dept) shared his entrepreneurial journey. His session inspired students to embrace challenges, identify growth opportunities, and leverage their academic leanings to build impactful startups.
The camp concluded with a productive student leaders’ planning session, where participants devised strategic plans to drive innovation, entrepreneurship, and impactful projects across their respective institutions in the upcoming year. The Vote of Thanks was delivered by T Visakh (CEO, IEDC – Vidya, S8,EEE Dept) who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, participants, and organizers for their contributions to the event’s success. The event was skillfully anchored by Chaitra Prasadh (Women Lead, IEDC – Vidya, S8,ECE Dept) that ensured a seamless flow of sessions. With each session bringing unique insights and inspiration, the IEDC Thrissur Cluster Student Leads Meet successfully equipped student leaders with the knowledge, skills, and motivation to drive entrepreneurial growth in their institutions and beyond.
