Vidya NSS Units engage school students through Interactive Session
As part of the Energy Cell flagship program of KTU NSS, the Vidya NSS Units organized an energy awareness session for the students of Govt. R.S.R.V.H.S. School, Velur on 29 September 2025. The initiative aimed to educate young learners on energy conservation, sustainable practices, and the importance of responsible energy consumption to promote environmental sustainability.
The program commenced with an informative awareness class, where students were introduced to the concepts of energy efficiency, renewable energy sources, and simple daily practices that contribute to energy saving. Volunteers explained the environmental consequences of energy wastage and encouraged students to adopt energy-conscious habits both at home and in school.
Following the awareness session, a debate competition was organized, providing a platform for students to express their opinions and innovative ideas related to energy conservation. The lively discussion encouraged critical thinking, teamwork, and practical application of the topics covered during the session. The interactive nature of the event ensured active participation and enthusiasm among the students.
The initiative was effectively coordinated by the Energy Cell Unit Coordinators: Alanteena C A (S5 EEE), Arjun C N (S5 EEE), Bhadra M U (S5 ECE), Ajay M S (S5 EEE), Adith C A (S5 ECE), Devika K B (S5 ECE), Anamika Sebastian (S5 ECE), and Godwin C Baiju (S5 ME).
Their teamwork, leadership, and enthusiasm ensured the smooth execution of the event and meaningful engagement with the school students.
The program was conducted under the guidance of Mr. Rajesh S K (Associate Professor, EEE Department) and Mr. Ranjith E R (Assistant Professor, ME Department), whose mentorship and support were instrumental in organizing and supervising the initiative.
Outcome
The energy awareness program successfully sensitized students to the importance of sustainable energy practices and environmental responsibility. The debate session not only deepened their understanding of the subject but also enhanced their confidence and communication skills.
