The award ceremony was organised as part of the state-level programme held on 01 October 2026 at Mind Auditorium, Thycaud, Thiruvananthapuram, on the occasion of National Voluntary Blood Donation Day 2026. The programme recognised organisations that made significant contributions to voluntary blood donation and helped strengthen the culture of voluntary blood donation across the state.
On behalf of Vidya Academy of Science & Technology, Mr. Ranjith E R (NSS Program Officer, Asst Prof, ME Dept) represented the institution and received the award. The NSS Units of VAST were honoured with a Certificate of Appreciation and a Memento, presented by Mr K. Muraleedharan (Hon’ble Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Government of Kerala) in recognition of their commendable efforts in mobilising 503 voluntary blood donors during the financial year 2025–26.
This recognition marks a significant achievement for the NSS Units of VAST and acknowledges their continued commitment to social responsibility, community service and humanitarian activities. Through regular blood donation camps, donor registration initiatives and awareness programmes, the NSS volunteers have actively encouraged students and members of the public to participate in voluntary blood donation. Their efforts have helped promote awareness about the importance of donating blood voluntarily to support patients in need of life-saving transfusions.
The award reflects the collective contribution of NSS Programme Officers, Volunteer Secretaries, NSS volunteers, blood donors and other supporters who worked together to make these initiatives successful.
The achievement reinforces the spirit of the NSS motto, “Not Me, But You” and demonstrates how collective efforts and voluntary service can make a meaningful difference in society. VAST remains committed to promoting voluntary blood donation and contributing to the welfare of the community through its NSS activities.
