CE Dept conducts webinar on “Concrete Mix Design and Quality Control”

The CE Dept of the College used to conduct technical sessions on various topics of relevance every year as a part of the social commitment of the Dept. In the background of COVID – 19 lockdown, this time the Dept decided to conduct a two-day webinar, in association with Institute of Engineers India (IEI), Thrissur Local Centre, on “Concrete Mix Design and Quality Control”. The target audience of the webinar was B Tech and Diploma students of civil engineering, practicing civil engineers and other interested technical persons. The webinar was conducted on 15 – 17 July 2020.

The event was inaugurated by Dr Abdul Rahiman, Founder Pro-VC of APJAKTU and Director of the LBS Center for Science and Technology. The keynote address was delivered by Er V G Sankaranarayanan, Chairman, IEI, Thrissur Local Center. Dr C Justine Jose (Prof and Head, CE Dept) welcomed the dignitaries and the participants. . The presidential address was given by Dr Saji C B, Principal. Felicitations were offered by Dr V N Krishnachandran, Vice Principal, Er V Jayadevan (Visiting Professor, CE Dept). Er V Jayadevan also served as the principal resource person for the webinar.  More than 220 persons from different fields participated in the webinar.

The vast experience of the resource person and his style of presentation were well appreciated by the participants. The webinar came to an end by 12.15 PM on the first day after the discussion and feedback sessions. The vote of thanks was offered by Ms Keerthana T R (TI, CE Dept), the coordinator of the webinar.

On the second day, the Er V Jayadevan resumed the discussions at 10.15 AM. The Guest of Honour of the day was Dr Sudha Balagopalan, Dean Academics, and she offered a felicitation speech also. The webinar was concluded by Ms Krishnapriya P R (AP, CE Dept) with a thanks note.
