EEE Dept conducts Expert Alumni Talk

Vidya‘s proud alumni deem in inspiring minds, enhancing their scholar competence and building characters which they treasure for their generation. An expert alumni talk on ” Stringing Along Multiverse Higher Dimensions Unvelied” was handled by Mr Paulose Thomas (2008 – 12 Batch, EEE Dept, founder of SPT Online Classes) on 15 November 2023 at 11.00 am in EEE Seminar Hall. Mr Rahul Viswam (2008 – 12 Batch, EEE Dept, Artens Constructions LLP) also shared his experiences during college life and the transition from college life to his career life.

Dr.Mary P Varghese (Professor, HoD, EEE Dept) delivered the welcome speech. Dr.Sudha Balagopalan (Dean Academics) introduced the alumnus and addressed the gathering.

The aim of the talk was to impart knowledge about the topic of string theory which is the basic building structure of the universe. String theory is a theoretical framework in physics that aims to explain the fundamental nature of the universe. At its core, it suggests that the basic building blocks of the universe are not point-like particles but tiny, vibrating strings. These strings can manifest in various modes, giving rise to different particles observed in the universe. The theory emerged in the late 20th century as physicists sought a unified explanation for the forces of nature. Unlike traditional particle physics, which treats particles as dimensionless points, string theory introduces the notion that particles are one-dimensional strings, each with its unique vibration pattern. These vibrations determine the particle’s properties, such as mass and charge.

String theory has the potential to reconcile quantum mechanics and general relativity, two pillars of modern physics that currently struggle to coexist at extreme scales. Moreover, it offers a promising avenue for understanding phenomena like dark matter and dark energy, which remain elusive in standard models. Despite its elegance and potential, string theory faces challenges. Experimental verification is currently beyond the reach of our technology, as the energy scales involved are far beyond those achievable in current particle accelerators. This lack of empirical evidence has led some critics to question the scientific validity of string theory.

In conclusion, string theory presents a captivating vision of the universe, suggesting that everything, from particles to forces, arises from the vibrational patterns of tiny strings. While it remains a theoretical framework with challenges to overcome, its pursuit offers a tantalizing prospect of a unified understanding of the fundamental forces governing our cosmos. Mr Paulose clearly explained about some topics related to string theory.

After the session, the students interacted with the resource person and cleared their doubts. Feedback session was arranged to analyze the impact of this talk on the audience. Some Students and some faculty members expressed their feedback during the session. The session was concluded with the vote of thanks by Ms Akhila R (Asst Prof, EEE Dept). The session was really inspiring and helped the students to know about the extraterrestrial life of Aliens.Ms Neenu Thomas (Asst Prof, EEE Dept) co-ordinated the session to the current first year 2023 EEE admitted Students.

The Editorial Team of News & Events joins the entire Vidya fraternity in extending hearty congratulations to Mr Paulose on handling an insightful session that implements approaches to know the tools, and assist the engineering aspirants to embrace technological advancements !!!
