EEE Dept conducts one-day workshop on “Introduction to Arduino” for Diploma students

With an aim to initiate participants to Arduino programming concepts and supply hands-on experience, a one-day workshop on “Introduction to Arduino” was hosted by the EEE Department exclusively for the Electrical Diploma Students of Thiagaraja Polytechnic College, Alagappanagar, MTI Thrissur, MET’s Polytechnic Mala, Sreerama Polytechnic Valappadu on 20 February, 2024. As many as 65 students attended the program. The focus of the workshop was to impart programming and interface skills using the Arduino board.

The inaugural ceremony was commenced with a welcome speech by Dr Mary P Varghese (HoD, EEE Dept.). Dr Saji C B (Principal, VAST) gave the presidential address for the function. Mr Suresh Lal (Executive Director, VICT) inaugurated the function. Dr Sudha Balagopalan (Dean Academics) gave special address for the function. Mr Arun Xavier, (Asst Prof, EEE Dept) the resource person of the workshop, gave an overview of the program. Mr Krishnakumar M (Asst Prof, EEE Dept) proposed vote of thanks.

After the formal inauguration, the students were introduced to the software platform for Arduino boards called Arduino IDE. In the hands-on hardware sessions, students were given onboard training on digital read, digital write, analog read, analog write, serial monitoring, etc. In the last few hours, they were asked to complete a small project using all these functions.

Mr. Arun Xavier (Asst Prof, EEE Dept) led the sessions with different examples of projects. Students gave very good feedback for this workshop.

After the workshop, a talk about electrical engineering was also arranged which was handled by Dr Sudha Balagopalan (Dean,Academics). Electrical labs and campus visit were also arranged for the students . Mr Krishnakumar M (Asst Prof, EEE Dept) co-ordinated the workshop.
