NSS blood donation drive breaks record with 190 units collected in two days
In a remarkable display of community service and social responsibility, the National Service Scheme (NSS) units 101, 200, 662, and 663 of Vidya successfully organized a two-day blood donation camp during 26-27 March 2025. Conducted in collaboration the Government Medical College, Thrissur, and General Hospital, Thrissur, the camp witnessed an overwhelming response from students, faculty members, non-teaching staff, and other college personnel. Over two consecutive days, enthusiastic volunteers came forward to contribute to this noble cause, underscoring the spirit of selflessness and solidarity in the VAST community.
Event Highlights include 190 total blood donations, of which 105 were from first-time donors.The camp was conducted within the college campus, ensuring a convenient and accessible setup for all donors. A commendable total of 190 individuals, including students, staff members of the college community, participated in the initiative, donating blood in a well-organized and disciplined manner. The event strictly adhered to medical guidelines and protocols, ensuring a smooth and efficient donation process.
The successful execution of the blood donation camp was made possible through the dedicated efforts of the NSS Rudhirasena coordinators (Aswin P Prakash (S6, CSE Dept), Aljin Joby (S6, CSE Dept), Harisankar T S (S6, EEEDept ) and Naveen P A (S6, CSE Dept). Their meticulous planning and teamwork ensured that the camp ran seamlessly, providing a comfortable and safe experience for all donors.
The event was conducted under the able guidance of Mr Rajesh S K (NSS Program Officer, Asso Prof, EEE Dept), Mr Ranjith E R ((NSS Program Officer, Asst Prof, ME Dept), Ms. Delmy David V (NSS Program Officer, Asst Prof, CSE Dept) and Ms.Anu Maria Antony (NSS Program Officer, Asst Prof, CE Dept). Their dedication to social service and student involvement ensured that the event upheld the highest standards of organization and execution.
The blood donation camp proved to be a significant and impactful initiative, reflecting the commitment of NSS volunteers towards community welfare. With 190 units of blood collected over two days, the event contributed immensely to addressing blood shortages in hospitals.
