Vidya hosts State Annual Meet and Award Distribution Ceremony of NSS Technical Cell

The two-day “State Annual Meet and Award Distribution Ceremony” of the NSS Technical Cell, was held in the College during 07 – 08 July 2017. About 700 NSS volunteers from various Engineering Colleges and Polytechnics across Kerala attended the two-day programme.

The inaugural function

Sri.Abdul Jabbar Ahamed, Program Coordinator, NSS Technical Cell, Kerala, welcomed the gathering. The presidential address was given by Smt Padmini Teacher, Chairperson (Welfare Standing Committee), Thrissur District Panchayath. The programme was officially inaugurated by Sri. G P Sajiithbabu, Regional Director, NSS. The keynote address was delivered by Er. G Mohanachandran, Executive Director, VICT, Thrissur. The special address was given by Dr. Sabukuttan K (State NSS Officer), Dr. Sudha Balagopalan (Principal, VAST, Thrissur) and by Sri K A Khalith (Member, NSS Directorate Level Advisory Board). The event was felicitated by Dr. Nisam Rahman A (Technical Consultant, NSS Tech Cell), Sri. M Vijayakumar (Director, SRS), Sri. Arshad T K (ARM, NSS Tech Cell) and by Sri. Suhail Hamza (NACT State Convenor). Sri. Anil M (NSS Programme Officer, VAST) gave vote of thanks.

Award Distribution Ceremony

To acknowledge the efforts of NSS volunteers and Programme Officers, an Award Distribution Ceremony was organized by NSS Technical Cell on 7 July 2017 at 5.30 PM . The welcome address was delivered by Sri.Abdul Jabbar Ahamed, Program Coordinator NSS Technical Cell, Kerala. Dr. K P Indira Devi, Director of Technical Education Kerala, presided over the function. The awardees received Directorate Level Awards for 2016-17 from Adv. V S Sunil Kumar, Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture, Government of Kerala. Felicitation was given by Sri. V A Shamsudeen (Chairman Award Selection Committee & Dy. Director In charge, SITTTR Kalamassery), Sri. K A Kalith (Member, NSS Directorate Level Advisory Board), Sri. K P Rajeevan (Member, NSS Directorate Level Advisory Board), Smt. A S Chandrakantha (Member, NSS Directorate Level Advisory Board) and by Sri. Brahmanayagam Mahadevan (Director of GENSIS Camps, NSS Technical Cell). Dr. Nisam Rahman A, Technical Consultant, NSS Tech Cell, delivered vote of thanks for the award distribution ceremony.

The awardees

The NSS unit of Vidya Academy of Science & Technology, bagged the award for Best Unit. Dr. Sudha Balagopalan, Principal, Vidya Academy of Science & Technology, received the Best Unit Award from Adv. V S Sunil Kumar, Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture .The Programme officer of the unit Sri. Anil Melepurath received the Best Programme Officer Award for 2016-2017. The directorate level award for Best Volunteer was bagged by Mr. Prijoy Peter, Vidya Academy of Science and Technology, Thrissur .Vdya Academy of Science & Technology, bagged the award for the outstanding performance in the “Visharahitha Vishu” programme organized by NSS Technical Cell jointly with Social Research Society during 1st November 2016 and 14th April 2017. The award was received by Dr. Sudha Balagopalan, Principal, Vidya Academy of Science & Technology.

The valedictory function

The valedictory function of the “State Annual Meet & Award Distribution Ceremony” programme was held on 8 July 2017 at College Auditorium. Dr. Nisam Rahman A, Technical Consultant, NSS Tech Cell, delivered the welcome speech and the presidential address was delivered by Sri.Abdul Jabbar Ahamed, Program Coordinator NSS Technical Cell, Kerala. The valedictory message was delivered by the chief guest for the function Sri. C Samuel Chelliah, NSS Regional Director, Chennai. Felicitation was given by Dr. Sudha Balagopalan (Principal, Vidya Academy of Science & Technology), Ms. K T Bijumol (Member, NSS Directorate Level Advisory Board), Mr. Naseem Hashmi ARM NSS Tech Cell), and by Ms. Krishnaveni M (Volunteer Secretary,VAST). The valedictory session concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Jestine Joseph, Project Consultant, NSS Tech Cell, followed by National Anthem, led by the NSS volunteers of Vidya Academy of Science & Technology.
