PTA General Body Meeting – 2017

The annual General Body Meeting of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of the College for the academic year 2016-17 was held in the College Auditorium on 29 July 2017 at 10 am. The meeting started with a prayer. Ms. Salkala K S, Joint Secretary, welcomed the gathering. Adv. Reghunath Kazhungil, President of PTA, presided over the function. In his presidential address, Adv. Raghunath spoke about the many contributions made by the PTA during this year for the development of the College. He also cautioned the parents about their wards indulging in ragging. Principal Dr. Sudha Balagopalan in her address explained the activities and achievements of students and staff, especially highlighting the efforts and achievements of the two groups of faculty members from ME and CE departments in getting several prestigious funded projects. Executive director Er. G Mohanachandran spoke about the current setbacks in engineering education and the reasons for thee setbacks. He also talked about the importance of engineering education and its scope in future.

PTA Secretary Sri. P Velayudhan presented the annual report. It was discussed and approved by the General Body. Mr. Krishnakumar, PTA Treasurer, presented the audited account and it was also approved in the meeting.

Executive director honoured Sri. Sudheer G Kollara, Executive Committee Member of PTA, for his state level achievements. Farewell to the PTA president Adv. Reghunath and Vice President Sri. Chandrasekharan was given by the Principal. Mementos to the staff members for their praiseworthy work and achievements in getting the prestigious funded projects were given by the PTA President. This was followed with the distribution of cash prizes and scholarships to the students who had excelled in academics by the president and Executive Committee members. Former PTA president Sri. Asokan felicitated the gathering.

During the open discussions, the following suggestions and requests came from the parents:

  • Extend the bus route from Akkikavu to Pazhanji.
  • Implement skill development programmes for the betterment of students.
  • Give sufficient knowledge regarding the start-ups to the parents.
  • Educate the parents regarding the rules and the curriculum of KTU.
  • Provide sufficient and timely information about the activities and events in the College  to the parents.

Principal responded to all the points raised by the parents.

The final item of agenda was the election of a new team of Executive Committee members from parents side. Mr. Shaji, former PTA President, acted as the returning officer for the election. Two members were elected unanimously in place of outgoing PTA President and Vice President retaining the other five members.

Mr. Ramkumar Menon, EC member proposed a vote of thanks and the meeting came to an end by 1pm.
