ME faculty members attend STTP at IIT Bombay

Five faculty members (Mr Pillu Mohan, Mr Alex C Chacko, Mr Aadars, Mr Prasanth and Mr Anil Paul) of Mechanical Engineering Department attended a STTP on “Analysis of Sheet Metal Forming Processes” at IIT Bombay during 7 – 11 May 2018. The STTP helped the attendees to gain a good understanding of the science involved in the development of several sheet metal technologies. The contents delivered mainly by Prof P P Date at the course covered Theory of Plasticity and its use in simulation software, latest developments in metallic sheet materials, joining methods, forming methods, methods of analysis to estimate the forces, design and selection of equipment, and application of the forming methods to make sheet metal components, process design based on the understanding of the methods, processes and quality criteria. Visits to labs, demonstrations of processes on a lab scale were part of the program.
