NSS units observe International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking
The NSS units of Vidya organised a webinar on “Dangers of drug abuse and its prevention” as part of the observance of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on 26th June. Dr Sebind Kumar (MBBS, MD), Assistant professor, Psychiatry, Government Medical College, Thrissur was the resource person for the programme. Around 75 volunteers participated in the webinar. All volunteers took the pledge against drug abuse published by Ministry of Home Affairs and shared the corresponding certificates.
By resolution 42/112 of 7 December 1987, the United Nations General Assembly decided to observe 26 June as the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking as an expression of its determination to strengthen action and cooperation to achieve the goal of an international society free of drug abuse. Supported each year by individuals, communities, and various organizations all over the world, this global observance aims to raise awareness of the major problem that illicit drugs represent to society.
