CSE Dept conducts third edition of AICTE sponsored STTP on emerging trends in cryptography

A third “unrevised” edition of the AICTE sponsored six-day Short Term Training Progrmme (STTP) on “Emerging Trends in Cryptography and its Application in Cyber Security” was organised in the online mode by the CSE Dept of College during 01 – 06 February 2021. There were as many as 58 participants in the third edition of the STTP. The STTP was inaugurated by Dr. Pattathil Dhanya Menon, Cyber Crime Investigator, Director – Avanzo Cyber Security Solutions. Welcome address was delivered by Dr Ramani Bai V, Co-ordinator, STTP, Prof and Head of CSE Dept.

Activities

The activities during the third edition of the STTP were repetitions of the activities during the first and second editions.

On day 1, in the forenoon session, Dr Dhanya Menon delivered the introductory talk on Cyber Security. In the afternoon session,  Dr Praveen K, Asst Professor, TIFAC CORE in Cyber Security, Amrita Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore gave a talk on visual cryptograpgy, deterministic schemes and probabilistic schemes.

On day 2, during the first session, Dr M Sethumadhavan,  Head – Cybersecurity, TIFAC CORE in Cyber Security, Amrita Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore  talked about the paths for better security. During the second session, Dr Amritha P P, Asst Professor, TIFAC CORE in Cyber Security, Amrita Vidyapeetham ,Coimbatore covered  multimedia security, watermarking, PVD algorithm, steganography, LSB embedding algorithm and audio steganography.

On day 3,   the main speakers were Dr Chungath Srinivasan, Asst Professor, TIFAC CORE in Cyber Security, Amrita Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore  and  Dr Panchami V, Assistant Professor, IIIT, Kottayam.

On day 4,  Mr Kalathil Karthik, CTO Wattlecorp Cybersecurity Labs discussed  Network Penetration Testing and  Hacking a Simulated Server.

On day 5, Mr Zuhair E, CEO Wattlecorp Cybersecurity Labs shared knowledge on Web Application Penetration Testing and DVWA Practice.

The STTP  was concluded with a talk by Dr Dhanya Menon.
