Gandhi Jayanthi celebration by NSS units
Activity at Government LP School, Kechery
On 2 October 2021, as part of celebrating Gandhi Jayanthi, the NSS units of Vidya organized a cleaning program at Government LP School, Kechery. It was also conducted as a part of the Suchithwa Mission project of District Panchayat. The activities at the school also gave the NSS Volunteers a chance to become a part of the inaugural ceremony of the “Kalimuttam” program which is an initiative put forward by the Government of Kerala on the occasion of the reopening of schools from 1 November 2021 after the prolonged lock down due to the Covid pandemic. Around 30 volunteers actively participated in the program.
Activity at Pookunnam Railway Station
Another group of volunteers conducted a cleaning program at Poonkunnam Railway Station on the same day. The program was started by singing Manavageetham. The volunteers then took the pledge related to Gandhi Jayanthi and the station master addressed the volunteers. Around 13 volunteers took active participation in this program.
Paper bag making
Still another group of NSS volunteers participated in a “Paper Bag Making” event in the college. The event was conducted to encourage and create awareness about the use paper bags as a viable substitute for plastic bags. About 12 Volunteers participated in the programme.
