World White Cane Day : NSS volunteers’ assistance get appreciation
The NSS volunteers endorse the need of selfless service and appreciation of the other man’s point of view by involving social outreach programs. This time, the NSS units has made volunteership for celebrating “World White Cane Day” by Kerala Federation of the Blind Thrissur at Kechery.
In accordance with World White Cane Day, the NSS volunteers from Vidya and LMN School helped in organizing the programme. Volunteers actively participated to transport blinds from Njanaprakashini LP school to Anmahal auditorium. Program flag off was done by Mr U K Shajahan (SHO Kunnamkulam) and inaugurated by Mr Murali Perunnelli (MLA, Manaloor Constituency). Mr Rajesh S K (NSS Programme Officer and Asso Prof, EEE Dept) co-rdinated the event.
World White Cane Day is observed on October 15 to throw light on the importance of white canes for blind people. This day is dedicated to all those blind people who actively participate in the society. This day celebrates the achievements of people who gained success despite their physical limitation, that is the inability to see things. |
