EEE faculty member participates FDP on Smart Grids and Integration of Renewable Sources
Vidya faculty member find quality time to acquire special skills that help them to engage in the facilitation of theory and applications in their chosen field.
To enhance knowledge on smart grid integration of renewable sources, Ms. Lasitha Mohandas (Asst. Prof, EEE Dept) attended a three day offline Faculty Development Program on “Smart Grids and Integration of Renewable Sources” sponsored by APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University during 22– 24 February 2023.
The sessions were handled by experts from NITs and GEC Thrissur. The FDP helped Ms Lasitha Mohandas to develop knowledge on recent trends in the development of Smart grid using power electronic devices.
The FDP was started on 22 nd February with the Lamp Lightening ceremony. The dignitaries were welcomed by the Principal, IES College of Engineering. The first technical session was on the topic Condition monitoring of Power converters used in Renewable Sources and the guest speaker was Dr. Jagadanad G, Professor NIT Calicut.In the afternoon session Dr. M Nandakumar discussed about Grid connected Inverter system and its control method.
On second day technical session 2 and technical session 3 were organized. The guest speaker was Dr. E A Jasmin, Professor GEC Thrissur. She discussed about Development of Smart grid and demand side management. In session 3 Dr. John Chembukkavu discussed about Smart grid integration with electric vehicle
On day three the morning session was addressed by Dr. B. Jayanand Retd. Principal GEC, Thrissur talked about Power electronic solutions for integration of renewable generation in smart grids. Dr. John Chembukkavu also conducted a hands on training using IoT based real time use-Electrical energy consumption-using LoRaWAN based energy meter. In the afternoon Industrial visit to Power grid cooperation Madakkathara was organised.
After this feedback session and valedictory functions were conducted and distributed certificates, votes of thanks were provided by faculty members.
