Vidya celebrates National Science Day ‘AION 2023’ with an array of activities
To highlight the importance in science, motivate the students, and make them aware of the latest developments in science and technology, several scientific activities and programs are being organised in Vidya .
Dept of Applied Sciences and Humanities, celebrated ‘Science Fest-AION 2023’ on 15 March 2023. The National Science Day is celebrated in India on 28 February every year to commemorate the invention of the Raman Effect, by the great physicist, Mr Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman. The theme for this year’s celebration was “Global Science for Global Well-being”. The day was celebrated with great enthusiasm.
The event started with a prayer by Neha T V (S1, CE Dept) and Sreya Sunil Kumar (S1, CE Dept). Dr Jiby Jose (Professor and Head, Applied Sciences & Humanities Dept) formally welcomed all the participants gathered for the celebration. The program was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by Dr C B Saji (Principal). Dr.Sudha Balagopalan (Dean – Academics), Heads of academic Departments, Faculty members, Staff and Students also joined. The Principal addressed the gathering with his stimulating thoughts on the importance of Science Day and highlighted on how new ideas can be generated through the celebration of such events. The Principal also motivated the students to walk hand in hand to solve the current global issues.
The keynote address was given by Dr Sudha Balagopalan. She emphasized the need to go beyond textbooks and imbibe the knowledge from all the spheres for the overall development of Global Science and Technology. She encouraged and motivated students to take up challenges and put efforts to achieve excellence in their lives.Dr Sudha Balagopalan also shared project ideas on various topics.
Poster and Paper Presentation competitions were conducted as a part of ‘Science Fest – AION 2023’. First year Students from various departments participated in the events. Students had shown their creative ideas and knowledge in competitions and got opportunity to win prizes during the occasion.
Dr Vineetha C P (Asst Professor in Chemistry and Program Convenor) delivered the vote of thanks.
