AS Dept Organizes International Conference on Applied Mathematics and Nanoscience (ICAMN 2024)
With an aim to exchange ideas in the competitive field of Applied Mathematics and Nanoscience, Department of Applied Sciences and Humanities of Vidya in collaboration with the Institution of Engineers (India) (IEI), Center for Studies in Discrete Mathematics (CSDM) and Kerala Mathematical Association (KMA) organized an online International Conference on Applied Mathematics Nanoscience (ICAMN 2024) during 23-25 January 2024.
ICAMN 2024 addressed the recent advances and challenges in applied mathematics and neuroscience pertinent to engineering and technology. The conference provided opportunities for exchanging ideas and fruitful interaction for academicians, scientists, industrialists and researchers across the world. Latest trend in the frontiers of applied mathematics such as model for the impact of dielectric polarization of a charged droplet on its diffusiophoresis, reliability computation of a component with four states, multi objective electric vehicle transshipment problem with battery swapping stations under fuzzy environment, reliability computation with random cycles, incremental stress, decreasing strength and exponential strength variables, optimizing sustainable production quantity model incorporating CCS technology and mitigating greenhouse gas and wastewater emissions, fuzzy vehicle routing problem for a municipal solid waste management system etc were presented during the conference. The recent advances and challenges in nanoscience with special emphasis to nurture green technologies were expounded.
The conference was inaugurated by Dr Shalij P R (Dean Research of KTU). Dr Saji CB (Principal) presided over the function. Dr.Sudha Balagopalan (Dean Academics) introduced the guest, Dr.V N Krishnachandran (Conference Chairman former Vice Principal, VAST) gave an overview of the conference. Dr Anil B (Academic Director),Dr Sunny Kuriakose (Secretary KMA),Mr Suresh Lal (Executive Director) , Adv. P N Unnirajan IPS (Retd) (Administrative Director), Mr Asokan E G (Trust Co-ordinator, VICT) and Dr.Sunitha C (Vice Principal) delivered felicitations.
Invited Talks by eminent Professors and Scientists have revealed the advancement in the field of Applied Mathematics and Nanoscience and its application in various engineering fields.
All sessions were informative and inspirational. There were 3 Academic sessions on the first day.The first session was engaged by Prof. Dr.Leong Wah June from Universiti_Putra_Malaysia. He gave an inspirational talk on Proximal Newton-Type Methods for Minimization of Composite Functions. In the second session. Dr Nitin Padmanabhan from EPRI USA delivered a talk on ‘General Algebraic Modeling System’.Third session was by Prof. Dr. S. Bhattacharyya from IIT Kharagpur on Modelling and Simulation of Micro-scale Transport Processes. Afternoon session was paper presentations. 20 researchers presented their papers on latest trend in the frontiers of applied mathematics.
On the second day in the first session Prof.Dr.Aurobinda Routray from IIT Kharagpur gave a talk on ‘Determining Autocorrelation Matrix Size and Sampling Frequency for MUSIC Algorithm’.The second session was handled by Prof. Dr. V.N Krishnachandran from Vidya Academy of Science and Technology, Thrissur on ‘Indian origins of calculus’.Prof. Dr. S K. Safique Ahmad from IIT Indore gave a talk on ‘Structured normwise, mixed, and component wise CNs of a linear function of the solution to the Generalized Saddle Point Problem (GSPP) in the third session.Dr Rajeeb Dey from NIT Silchar handled the fourth session on Stability Assessment of interpersonal relationship among Indian urban dyads. In the morning a paper presentation session was conducted and eight papers were presented on Nanoscience and Graph Theory.
There were three academic sessions, paper presentations and a valedictory function. During the first session. Dr Vinod C P (National Chemical Laboratory, Pune) delivered a talk on ‘Carbon Neutrality through Catalysis’.The second session was handled by Dr Priyanka K P (MSR University,Bengaluru) on Novel Aloe-vera Gel Mediated Nanotitania. The third session was by Dr Sudha Balagopalan (Dean – Academics) on Mathematics For Signals & Systems. Paper presentation session and valedictory function were held in the afternoon.
During the paper presentation session six papers were presented. Participants shared the feedback of the conference during the valedictory session. Principal Dr Saji C B,Dr Sudha Balagopalan and Dr V N Krishnachandran spoke on the occasion.
There were 34 paper presentations and 114 participants. The feedback from various participants revealed that the conference provided a platform to the faculty and researchers to learn, interact, and communicate with the academicians and scientists from different parts of the world. The Conference was co-ordinated by Dr Jiby Jose (Professor,HOD, AS Dept) as Convener with the support of Dr Siju K C (Asoo Prof, AS Dept) and Dr Sreedevi A (Asso Prof, AS Dept) as co-ordinators.
The Editorial Team of News & Events joins the entire Vidya fraternity in extending hearty appreciations to Dr Jiby and the entire Dept on the successful conduct of ICAMN 2024 that brings together professionals, experts and students from around the world to discuss and connect in high-end discussions on the leading topics of Applied Mathematics and Nanoscience !!! |
