Vidya explores the frontiers of Science & Technology at AION 2025

The National Science Day is celebrated in India on 28  February every year to commemorate the invention of the Raman Effect, by the great physicist, Shri Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman. The theme for this year’s celebration is “Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science & Innovation for Viksit Bharat”. 

National Science Day Celebrations-AION 2025 held at Vidya Academy of Science & Technology, Thrissur on 07 March 2025 organized by Department of Applied Sciences and Humanities met with great enthusiasm and active participation from first year students and staff alike.

The celebrations commenced with a prayer by Anjali Krishna (S2, ECE Dept) and Archa V S (S2, ECE Dept)  which was really serene and inspiring. Dr. Nisha. A.B (HoD, Applied Sciences& Humanities Dept) delivered a warm and engaging welcome speech. She began by highlighting the significance of National Science Day. She expressed gratitude to all attendees for their participation and welcomed esteemed guest of the day and speaker, Dr. T.V. Vimal Kumar, Mr Suresh Lal (Executive director,VICT), Heads of departments, faculty and staff members and all first year students to the function. 

The program was inaugurated by lighting the lamp Dr. T.V. Vimal Kumar (Assistant Professor and Research Guide at St Thomas’ College (Autonomous), Thrissur), Mr Suresh Lal (Executive Director,VICT) and student representatives.

The main highlight of the event was the thought-provoking talk delivered by Dr. T.V. Vimal Kumar. Dr. Vimal presented insights into the latest trends in applied sciences, emphasizing the pivotal role of research and interdisciplinary collaboration in advancing scientific knowledge. He also underlined the importance of promoting scientific awareness and innovation within the institution and the broader community, discussed various emerging fields, importance of internships, exchange programs and collaboration with reputed organisation in growing towards achievement. His engaging presentation inspired students and faculty to deepen their interest in scientific research and innovation.

Prize winners of the paper and poster presentation competition were given certificates and prizes by Dr. Vimalkumar and Mr Suresh Lal.

 Nahala Abdul Latheef (S2, ECE Dept) remarked that it was a memorable and enriching experience, motivating students to explore new scientific horizons.The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Vineetha C P (Asso Prof, Applied Sciences Department). Dr. Vineetha expressed gratitude to the distinguished speaker, Dr. Vimal Kumar, for his valuable contribution, as well as to the attendees, staff, and students who made the event a success. The compering performed by Ms Aswathy Alathu Karunakaran (Asst Prof, AS Dept) set  a lively and professional tone that aligns with the scientific spirit of AION 2025.Dr. Vineetha C.P (Asso Prof, Applied Sciences Department) served as the co-ordinator of the even and ensured a smooth and successful execution in all aspects. 

The National Science Day celebrations were a great success, fostering an atmosphere of curiosity and respect for scientific inquiry. The talk highlighted the importance of internships, scientific progress and the need for continued learning and research.
