Fuelled by dedication and strengthened by excellence – Vidya  salutes  Mr Akshay Dileep for his stellar accomplishment in the UPSC Civil Services Exam

Igniting a sense of ambition in the younger generation and reminding everyone that anything is possible with enough passion and perseverance, Vidya Engineering College felicitated our esteemed alumnus  Mr Akshay Dileep (2012–16 Batch, Production Engineering Dept)  who achieved remarkable success in the UPSC Civil Services Exam.Making all Vidyaites  proud, Akshay Dileep secured an All India Rank of 246 and made it to the elite group of successful candidates. 

His unwavering dedication and perseverance paid off in his fourth attempt with Sociology as an optional subject. Mr. Akshay had secured a place in the elite group of candidates who had cleared the UPSC Civil Services Result 2023 with a commendable rank and is currently serving as Assistant Director General of Foreign Trade (Probation), under the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), as part of the Indian Trade Service cadre .

Celebrating a Proud Moment: Felicitation Ceremony for Akshay Dileep

To celebrate the achievement that made everyone proud, Vidya organized a felicitation ceremony at his residence in Peramangalam. His family members  led by Ms Vijaya (Akshay’s mother)   extended a warm and gracious welcome to the guests. As a gesture of honor and joy, Dr Sunitha C (Principal) presented a bouquet to Akshay, symbolizing the institution’s immense pride and pleasure in his remarkable accomplishment. With great pride, Dr. Sunitha  expressed how Akshay’s accomplishment has filled the entire Vidya community with joy, marking a moment of collective pride for all and serving as a source of great joy for the entire institution. 

Mr Akshay then reminisced about his background and schooling, and shared his journey that began in 2020 during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, and his journey through the interview stage of the Civil Services selection process, one of the most competitive exams in the country. Mr Akshay shared his experiences, struggles and the motivation that kept him going through difficult times. His father Mr Dileep, a businessman, his mother Ms Vijaya, a housewife and his sister Ms Aishwarya, an interior designer, played a crucial role in supporting Akshay in realizing his dream.

In a gesture of recognition, Dr. Sunitha presented a meaningful memento, symbolizing Vidya’s admiration for Akshay’s extraordinary achievements. A heartfelt memento was presented by Dr. Sunitha, symbolizing Vidya’s pride and admiration for Akshay’s remarkable achievements.

During his academic journey, Mr. Akshay not only excelled as a student but also demonstrated his skills as a sportsman. In 2015, he secured second place in the Calicut University Inter-Collegiate Boxing Championship held at St. Thomas College, Thrissur. His sporting achievements continued to shine as he went on to win the gold medal in the 75 kg middleweight category at the Indo-Nepal Goodwill International Rural Boxing Championship, held in Nepal on 27–28 May 2018. These memorable accomplishments were fondly reminisced during the felicitation ceremony.

In a heartwarming moment,Dr. Jeeva K A (Prof & HoD , AIML Dept), Ms Anil Kumar K R (Asso Prof, ME Dept) and Ms Surabhi M S (Asst. Librarian) shared fond memories of Akshay’s journey, highlighting his timely insights, remarkable dedication, and praised his sharp responses and commitment to excellence.
