AIML Dept conducts workshop on ‘Prompt Engineering and Generative AI’
With the aim of introducing students to the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence and Prompt Engineering, and providing hands-on experience in interacting with generative AI tools, a workshop on Prompt Engineering and Generative AI was conducted for the S4 CSE Diploma students of Govt. Polytechnic College, Kunnamkulam on 16 March 2026 by AIML Dept
The session was handled by Ms. Manjusha P D (Asst Prof, AIML Dept) and Ms. Bianka Thomas (Asst Prof, AIML Dept)The workshop commenced at 2:00 PM with an introductory session on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) led by Ms. Bianka Thomas (Asst Prof, AIML Dept). She provided an overview of fundamental AI concepts, highlighted the role of machine learning in modern applications, and explained how AI technologies are integrated into everyday platforms.
This was followed by an engaging session on Prompt Engineering by Ms. Manjusha P D (Asst Prof, AIML Dept). She elaborated on the concept of prompt engineering, its significance in effectively interacting with generative AI tools, and various types of prompts that can be used to obtain accurate and meaningful responses.
The workshop also featured hands-on activities, allowing students to experiment with different prompt styles. Demonstrations on AI-based image generation were conducted, and students actively participated by creating their own prompts and observing the outcomes.
A total of 62 students from S4 CSE attended the workshop. The session was highly interactive and enabled students to gain practical insights into the use of AI tools and prompt design techniques.
