College ArtsFest ADVIKA 2018 concluded successfully
ADVIKA 2018, this year’s edition of the annual ArtsFest of the College, was organised during 16-19.02.2018. The off-stage events were held on 16.02.2018 and 18.02.1018 and the on-stage events on 17.02.2018 and 19.02.2018.
The ArtsFest was inaugurated by Kalashree Dr. Kuzhalmannam G Ramakrishnan on 17.02.2018 at 10 am at the College Auditorium. Dr. Ramakrishnan is a Guinness World Record holder for longest performance in percussion instrument, a Guinness World Record holder in longest solo concert (501 hours), an innovator who has designed Mridu, a unique percussion instrument and a winner of the Kalashree Award from Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi.
The inaugural ceremony was started with a welcome address by Chamind E C, Chairman, Vidya Senate. This was followed by presidential address by Dr. Sudha Balagopalan, Principal, and felicitations by Er. G. Mohanachandran, Executive Director, VICT. Dr V N Krishnachandran, Vice Principal, was also present during the ceremony. The Chief Guest delivered the inaugural address after the lighting of the traditional lamp, and he graced the occasion with a wonderful Mridungam performance with his innovative invention the Mridu Tharang. The function came to an end at 10.45 am with a vote of thanks, delivered by Angel Francis, Fine Arts Secretary, Vidya Senate.
According to the Vidya Senate Conveners, Abhilasha P S, Associate Professor, Civil Engineering, and Rajesh N P, Associate Professor, Mechanical Engineering, who were the faculty members in overall charge of the ArtFest, the programme was a unique success because of the whole hearted support and cooperation of VICT, the Principal, the Vice Principal, the Heads of all Departments and all teaching and non-teaching staff of the College. The hard work of the student volunteers, especially the Arts Captains and Senate office bearers, immensely contributed to the success of the programme.
