Sameeksha organises three-day Faculty Induction Programme

Sameeskha, the Trainers’ Club of Vidya, organised a three-day Faculty Induction Programme during 17-19 July 2019. As many as 22 faculty and staff members of the College of various Departments attended the programme. They were all faculty members with less than three years of teaching experience in Vidya.

Inaugural ceremony

The inaugural ceremony of the Programme was held on 17 July 2019. Dr Latha Raj, Director, Students Welfare and Social Projects, VICT, welcomed all the dignitaries and the participants the function. Dr Saji C B, Principal, presided over the function and introduced Vidya to the newly joined students and their parents. VICT Chief Patron, Er P K Asokan inaugurated the function. Dr Anil B, Academic Director, VICT, delivered a special address. The inaugural session came to an end with vote of thanks by Mr Hareesh K (AP, ME Dept and and Convener, Sameeksha).

Overview of the various sessions

During the three days of the Programme, the participants were  given an insight into the value system of Vidya and also to the philosophy of the work ethics in Vidya. Er G Mohanachandran, Executive Director, VICT,  delivered a talk featuring the Journey of Vidya. Dr Anil B talked about engineering pedagogy and the role of a teacher as a facilitator. Dr V N Krishnachandran, Vice Principal and HoD, MCA Dept, discussed the code of conduct in Vidya. Dr Sooraj K Prabha, Associate Professor, ME Dept discussed the importance of research and funded projects.

Mr Haridas Mani, Principal (Retired), Maharaja’s Polytechnic College, Thrissur  and Transaction Analysis Trainer discussed Transaction Analysis as a tool to understand oneself and understand others better. Dr Latha Raj discussed the fundamentals of student mentoring.

There was also a session devoted to micro-teaching. The presentations of the the participants were video-recorded and later replayed to assess the areas of strengths and weaknesses to help the participants become better teachers.
