ViCA activities of 2019-20 inaugurated

It was a new experience for all present when the chief guest of the occasion turned into a dubbing artist of sorts: he was  a mimicry artist mimicking spot-dubbing! He was mimicking one of the newest trends in Malayalm film making, the practice of on-the-spot dubbing at shooting locations.

The occasion was a programme held in the College Audutorium on 30 August 2019 to inaugurate of the activities of MCA Dept Association (fondly called ViCA, supposedly indicating Vidya Computer Application Association) during the current academic year 2019 – 20 and the Chief Guest was Mr Saravanan Peringode, an artiste much-respected for his spot-dubbing talents. The Secretary of the Association Mr Renjith Krishnan is an accomplished Maddalam artist and he also made a 15-minutes long spell-binding solo performance of his virtuosity with Maddalam. There were also music and dance performances by students of the three MCA classes.

The cultural programmes were preceded by a formal session presided over by Dr V N Krishnachandran (Prof and Head, MCA Dept). Dr Saji C B, Prinicipal, prticipated in the session and gave some insightful comments on how the activities of the Association can be fine-tuned to provide better learning experiences to the students. The Principal also stayed back to see Mr Saravanan performing spot-dubbing.

As part of the formal ceremonies, Christy Jose (S5 MCA) rendered the invocation and Sreelakshmi P (S5 MCA) welcomed all participants. After the oath-taking ceremony by the newly elected office bearers of ViCA, Renjith Krishnan presented an outline of the activities planned for the academic year 2019 – 20. The formal session concluded with a vote of thanks by Reshma P R (S1 MCA).
