VIBE: Webinar on “Engineering Education – A gateway to the world of opportunities”

Engineering education is providing a wide world of opportunities before every aspirant. But most of the students who opt for engineering education are not aware of the opportunities available all over the world, scholarships available especially for studying or doing research abroad, how to chase their dream job etc. To address this concern, as part of Vidya’s Initiative for Better Engineering (VIBE-2021), a webinar was organised to make students understand placement and research opportunities in engineering education, how to follow their passion and how to prepare strategies for achieving their career goals. All students who have just completed their +2 studies and who have elicited interest in joining Vidya were invited to participate in the webinar. The alumni of Vidya who are in reputed posts in well known organisations were the resource persons for the event. The webinar was conducted on 15 August 2021 on ZOOM Platform between 6.00 PM to 7.15 PM. Dr Sudha Balagobalan (Dean-Academics) and Dr N Ramachandran (Prof and head, ME Dept) addresses the participants.

The resource persons were

  • Ms Swathika K S ( MSc University of Duisburg Essen , Germany).
  • Mr Sreehari G Varma (Project Engineer , CTO, Wipro Robotics Practice)
  • Mr Shaheen N S (Software Developer , SOTI Technologies)
  • Mr Sylvester Neyyan Joy (Piping Design/Drafting Engineer , QuEST Global , Banglore).

The resource persons explained the wide opportunities available in engineering field and they emphasized on the preparations to be done during the four years of  B Tech programme to grab those opportunities and make a bright career. They also emphasized the importance of extra curricular activities, add on courses, programming languages, participation in hackhathons, etc to make their profile stand out in the crowd. Each one of the resource person explained the role of Vidya in molding their career.

As many as 132 students participated in the programme. The event coordinator was Mr Anil Paul (AP, ME Dept).
