Vidya launches online course on robotics under SDPK
An online course on robotics, “Introduction to Robotics”, offered under the auspices of the Skill Delivery Platform, Kerala, was launched in Vidya on 23 October 2019. The course was formally inaugurated by Honourable Chief Minister Sri Pinarayi Vijayan through video conferencing from his office. As many as 30 students from the CSE and ME Depts have have registered for the course. Including Vidya, only four engineering colleges in Kerala have joined this programme.
The Skill Delivery Platform, Kerala (SDPK) is an initiative of the Department of Electronics & Information Technology, Government of Kerala implemented through the Special Purpose Vehicle, Kerala State Information Technology Infrastructure Limited (KSITIL), with ICT Academy of Kerala (ICTAK) playing the role of the operating partner. The vision of SDPK is to impart industry-relevant employability skills to engineering, polytechnic and graduate students across the State.
According to Mr Santhosh Kurup, Chief Executive Officer, ICTAK: “The SDPK is conceptualized using a modern technology-enabled learning platform (Cisco Telepresence Solution) that will enable remote delivery of high quality skill programmes devised by the industry. SDPK will connect 150 hi-tech classrooms in the Engineering Colleges/Polytechnics/Community Skills Parks in Kerala and the industry hubs such as Technopark, Infopark and Cyberpark. The highlight of SDPK is the partnership with the industry to deliver world-class skill development training programmes which will help students from all branches of engineering to interact with industry experts and get trained.”
