College Annual Athletic Meet 2018 held
The Annual Athletic Meet of the College was held on 22.03.2018 with the aim of nurturing sporting talents and to inculcate the spirit of healthy competition among the students.
Inaugural Ceremony
The Inaugural function commenced with the Hoisting of the College Flag by Dr. Sudha Balagopalan, Principal, followed by torch relay. The Principal handed over the torch to Anjali Anil, member Kerala Technological University Chess Team, she handed over the torch to Sarath Peter, member Kerala Technological University Chess Team, then to Denna Rose Francis, member Kerala Technological University Table Tennis Team and finally to Abhildev C who represented Kerala Technological University Netball team in the All India Inter University Championship, who lighted the “Annual Athletic Flame”. This was followed by the very colourful ‘March Past’ of athletes. Then the Principal received the ‘Salute’ and declared the meet open. Mr. Anand Krishnan M, General Captain, Student Senate, took the ‘Oath’ on behalf of all the Athletes gathered. Department Heads, teaching and non-teaching staff members and students attended the function. The Department of Civil Engineering retained the best performance trophy instituted for ‘March Past’.
Competitions
As many as ten events were held separately for APJAKTU and Calicut University students and for men and women students. A total 500 students competed in the various track and field events.
Individual Champion (Men)
Mr. Rahul P M (ME Dept), Mr. Muneeb Manzoor (ME Dept), Mr. Nikhil P M (ME Dept) and Mr. Ajith Kumar P J (EEE Dept) adjudged the position of ‘Individual Champion’ by securing 2 Individual gold medals in Calicut Men. Mr. Aswin T R (CE Dept) and Alex Wilson (ME Dept) secured Individual Championship in the KTU Men section.
Individual Champion (Women)
The women individual championship was claimed by Shabna M S (CE Dept) and Beatrice Davis (CSE Dept) by wining 2 gold medals. Reshma N S (CE Dept) secured Individual Championship in the KTU Women section.
Team Championship (Calicut University students)
The Dept. of Mechanical Engineering retained the Calicut Men championship with 71 points.
The Dept. of Computer Science Engineering attained the Calicut women championship with 46 points.
Team Championship (APJAKTU students)
The Dept. of Mechanical Engineering secured the KTU Men championship with 51 points.
The Dept. of Civil Engineering attained the KTU women championship with 74 points.
