Nirmal Bino receives Indira Gandhi National Award for Best NSS Volunteer

It was a proud moment for Vidya when Nirmal Bino of B Tech (ECE) received the Indira Gandhi National Award for Best NSS Volunteer from His Excellency Shri Ram Nath Kovind, President of India, on 24 September 2021. The day of 24 th September is highly important in the world of NSS: The NSS world of India has been observing the day as the “NSS Day” for the last several years in commemoration of the date of launching the NSS in India in 1969.

The award was presented by the President of India in an online ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Nirmal Bino was selected for the award for his outstanding work in the country, including exemplary GIS mapping, outstanding performance at the National Integration Camp in Kerala, praiseworthy and dedicated sanitation works in railway station premises in the district, work related to refurbishing of damaged equipment in hospitals, flood reconstruction work and implementation of housing projects for the homeless in Edappal in Malappuram.

This is the second time in a row a student of Vidya has been receiving the Indira Gandhi National Award for the Best NSS Volunteer, In the year 2020, Sreehari A M  received the award from the President of India in an online function.
